I don't know what to say. give me a bit.

OK, I seriously cannot handle what Jack just said so I'm going to take a bit. I thought he may just be pulling my leg but he'd have to be a tool fan to know some of that stuff. Especially maynard owning that 3er. I remember waaaay back when he put that car, stereo and all, for sale on their web page circa 1995/1996. There is noooo way Jack should know about that BMW he owned.
I still need a bit. I feel a little ill. My brother, Eric, is also a huge fan of Brothers Quay and whenever I visit we usually talk for a hours about stop-motion stuff. I'm still overwhelmed. THIS IS SOME SERIOUS "SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION" ****! |
dude...you've already had one thread where you put your foot in your mouth repeatedly. Do you really want to go there again?!?
Jack is the real deal. Quit while you're behind. |
I don't want to bog down in the details, but this would actually be the third foot-in-mouth-never-live-it-down thread.

Isn't that the band that tried to get one of the American Idol runner ups to be their singer?

He turned down Fuel and currently has the number 1 album. He is doing better than Taylor Hicks. |
One of my top 5 of all time best song lyrics!

I'm wrong about one thing (but hey, we're talking about stuff from almost 20 years ago). Justin is the bass player who replaced the original guy, whose name was Paul. Justin was in a band called Peach before Tool.
I also met Chris Daughtry a couple of time while he was still in the competition for American Idol. He seemed like a very polite and sincere guy. |
Jack Olsen, What books have you written?

Hey Jack,
Coming up on an interesting post number. 12345 |

I am not positive tony, but I think Jack writes movie scripts. Try googling 'Jack Olsen - screenwriter'

I saw Tool twice. First time was around 1994 when they just made it. I heard "Sober" on a radio and was awed. Two month later I found out they were visiting small independent/synth festival in the middle of nowhere which happened to be 50 miles from where I lived (was living just south of nowhere those days). Mynard looked quite...errr...worn down on stage.
They gave fantastic performance...I remember it being LOUD. I still have few photos from the concert. Next time was 2001 or so. This time it was Roskilde festival, there was 70000 people or so. Tool were big by then. Mohawk was gone and there was a ton of sceen stuff, projectors and whatnot. Nice show but not quite the same intensity as 1994 gig in the middle of nowhere. I heard from someone that basist was a special effects guy and worked for Dreamworks or something? I was heavy into music (both playing and listening) in early 90's and a drummer friend of mine was totally awed by Tool drummer. |

Leland: was talking about Tony
geez....Tony, what part of "quit while you're behind" don't you understand? I'll leave the details to Jack if he wants to fill you in, but in general he fixes other people's work. Good pay, no fame, requires a lot of talent. If you know how the movie industry works, you'll understand. Now of course you're probably going to claim that the entertainment industry doesn't work that way... |
Whoops!

Tool is the best.... I got to see them play the last time they played at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. Perfect venue for Tool, small and personal. The first band I played in was a covers heavy covers band, and we played some Tool songs. Sober and 4 degrees most.

I'm a big Tool fan also. Just listened to all of Undertow last night. Great stuff. I've always described them as a mix of Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd. GREAT guitar tone, IMHO.
Strangely I was on business travel with a couple of older (mid-50s) co-workers a couple of weeks ago and somehow the subject of Tool came up. They were *both* huge Tool fans. It was very surreal, needless to say. |
FYI
For those into TOOL and/or wine. Check out Maynard's winery in the Sedona region of AZ. The site is pretty interesting. http://caduceus.org/ |
