Day late and a dollar short!

So a couple of weeks ago I spend more than a few bucks online. All went very well and I was pleased with everything. Going back to the website I notice down at the bottom a 15% discount I qualify for but missed. I email the business asking if I am too late to get the discount and am not getting any answers. Question is: Am I too late or do you think I should pursue the discount (about $150.00)

Ask them if they really want you to return everything or would they cut you a deal. Ask to talk to a supervisor.

Tried to contact retailer again on 3-23, still no response. Before the sale I got return e mails right away. This is a business the pelican board thinks highly of. Hopefully he is just very busy and intends to reply.

Cancel the transaction, then reorder with your discount.

ditto. as long as return policy doesn't involve "restocking fees" that would eat up your new discount.

Just looking for a response. "You snooze you lose" or "you bet I'll credit your card or give a store credit." Still happy with the product. Is it dishonorable to ask the question? Does asking constitute an immature sense of unreasonable entitlement?

The seller should have brought up the applicable discount at the time of sale, if it was in force at the time of sale. That would have been honorable, accomplished the sellers purpose in offering such a discount to a qualifying purchaser, and impressed a customer. And now they don't reply? Who are they? Maybe the same guy who handled your transaction is ash canning your emails. Even if outside the parameters of the discount offer, if you're reasonably close, if you get on the phone, will likely result in you getting the discount. Back at Christmas my father-in-law was 3 days late for a 2 for 1 cashmere sweater sale. He asked for the manager, said he'd buy a dozen if at the sale price, and did.

That's BS. I agree that the seller should have offered up the discount if they advertised if and you missed it. You overlooked an advertised discount if I read this right. If so, it's yours to claim.

BTW, while touching near the subject, I hate "rebates." It seems most are set up so that many people will forget or miss some stupid little detail so they can deny the refund. I won't buy anything with a rebate attached unless I expect to not ever see the money and the purchase is still economically viable.

For that reason alone, I've been to Fry's about 3 times in as many years. They could have a lot more of my money if they'd sell straight up. It's not going to be my problem, if the manufacturer wants to discount the product, they should sell it cheaper on the wholesale end.

Yep, exactly. When I make sales, I always try to find out if a buyer qualifies for an un-advertised discount I offer - in an inconspicuous way... It's un-advertised because everyone would be saying they do, even if they don't...

This was actually covered in a marketing course I took years ago. And you are exactly correct. Rebates are in place to give the appearance that you are saving money by purchasing the product. Although a certain amount of rebaters use the tactic of denying the rebate for various reasons, in reality the statistics show that most rebates are never even claimed for. People forget. Sellers are counting on the statistics.

If they offered a sale of 10% off at the register, then they lose 10% off of every sale. But if they offer 10% back by rebate, and only 80% claimed (way above average for claims) then the seller sees 20% of their sales at full price.

Around here, I've found Best Buy to be the worst about denying rebate claims for BS reasons.

I'm with Milt on this one. I will not buy a product that comes with a rebate. I will look for it on sale elsewhere.

The saga ends. Contacted the vendor via e mail again today. He responds!! Has been out of town on family business and has just gotten to his mail. Very professionally he has offered an in store credit for the discount I missed. He also is sending me a few additional parts that I need asap. I now feel I can ID this guy who has gone out of his way to provide great service. It's Bob @ Appbiz! Highly recommended. As I stated before, very happy with the products.
