VW Prototype Price Hint
Hello,
Can you help me, how can you put a price to a very special VW bug? It is a factory built prototype only one in the World. At first sight you can see all the modifications made to this car. It has 1000 kms and was built in the Mexico Puebla Plant in 1995. |

Can't help on the price but given the popularity of the VW bug and the popularity of factory prototypes at recent auctions I would guess it could be worth a lot of money.

Imagine what a pre WWII prototype of the early bug would be worth.

My dad had a 57' oval window ragtop as a 14 year old. His parents viewed it as a "toy". He rebuilt the engine on a wooden skateboard. He then rolled it doing donuts in a field. I imagine those are worth a bit now.
Saw a nice turquoise 66' 1300 Beetle parked up the street a few days ago. Funny how the more simple they look, they have an elegance to them.

It's not easy to price such an oddball. But for starters, the samba has a 1992 Mexican bug in very good condition, 77K km, for $6K. It has a clean title in Florida. The US registration makes it worth more in American dollars. I assume you plan to keep it in Mexico. 1990s bugs in Mexico are readily available and no big deal.
The taxi prototype status to me is just a curiosity. How much did a 1996 bug sell for in Mexico back in '96? I'd take that number and add maybe $3000 US dollars as a starting point.
