Well, not to be hostile, but tony, you sure seem obsessed about what other people think.

Funny, when I was driving my black 78 SC as a daily, bad paint, lowered, tail wide Fuchs & a Borla exhaust with a mean growl, most of the time no one would ever try & race me, they just backed off, no my buddy who waxed his factory turbo look every other day, and people were always reving their engine tring to race him. I figured that people figured than I was more worried about how my car ran than looked so most didn't try & run me, but my white cab, that was a different story, and it is built up

I put 1007 miles on my 964 in 2003, 510 miles on it in 2004, 354 miles on it in 2005, and 339 miles on it in 2006. Everyone in my region gave me **** about how I don't drive it, I baby it, the moon and the stars have to be aligned right before I would take it out of the garage, I'm a pussy for not driving it, I'm destroying the car by leaving it sit, do I even really own it since all I have are pictures and I never bring it to events, blah blah blah. Then, in 2005, I invited some of these skeptics over to my house for a fun run during the fall. I had the 964 in the garage, uncovered. It was unanimous. Everyone said the car was too nice to drive, even the guys that rode my ass the most about not driving agreed that the car was far too nice to be beating up with daily driving it. It's a source of pride for me to have a concours car. It's my money and my car. I'm enjoying my car just as much as someone that drives theirs everyday or tracks the living hell out of it. To each his own. Again, I'm not flamin' or hollerin' or trying to stir stuff up and I'm going to be darn sure I'm respectful of nostatic. It's just that I respect the guys that buy a Porsche, strip the guts out of it, bolt on a ton of race gear and flog the crap out of it on the track. I just ask for the same understanding when it comes to my garage queen/concours car. We're both enjoying the Porsche experience, but in different ways. Tony, I hear ya loud and clear on what you've experienced with your 930. Your car looks mint! Best to all, Jay My Garage Queen and Driver 911's |

I'm impressed (is that the right word?) that so many think a 930 is the ultimate "street cred" 911. But at least in the year and a half that I've had mine in L.A., I think it's gotten 'looks' maybe twice--though one time was from a pretty lady in a 996 cab on PCH .
