Yes.

Edit: No, not really. I was quoting a book. Sorry for the confusion.

Atlas Shrugged, one of my all-time favorite books! That book led me to my current Libertarian stance on most issues...

Randy,

Thanks, but if we go anywhere, it will have to be St. Augustine, FL! I'm hoping we can ride this rough storm out here in Michisippi, but if we have to, we'll leave. My wife has a good teaching job at the same school our kids attend, our home has been recently renovated (you know all about that!) and I found a good job, so we're staying put for now. My wife's parents could use our help as they're not in the best of health and since my wife took care of my grandfather for 5 years, I feel like it's only fair to stay and take care of her parents. Oh well....

They were going to lay off 29 state troopers but the union kicked in 400k to keep them on through July. 29 troopers in the entire effin state and even that small of a cut just cannot be allowed. What is that less than one half a trooper per county? No doubt they will get a budget approved to keep them by July...what a friggen joke.

Government just flat refuses to adjust to income.

To add:

I don't know about you guys, but when pondering all the problems Michigan has I have found myself coming back to the same answer every time.... The highways need more patrolin'

Do you have any idea what 1 officer costs the state over their lifetime?

Just saw a TV commercial for Michigan.

Kinda odd, it was specifically targeting "life sciences" companies and inviting them to move their businesses to Michigan.

No mention of a free iPod for them.

We save the iPod offer as our closer, we wine 'em and dine 'em then right at the end of the negotiation we hit 'em with the iPod...

You can't lead with something like that, always be building to a climax.

The weather in MI is the big draw! Where else can you enjoy the "change of seasons" all in one day?! It was 70 degrees last weekend and it's in the 20's this weekend. Lovely... then when it gets warm, the mosquitos come out!

I'm moving to Detroit! Yahoo shows over 900 homes listed for under $20k, Vernors on tap, and now free iPods?

Sounds like paradise!

Howard,
And the roads are worse than Iraqi roads... an additional bonus, you get a new suspension and exhaust system every year or so...

900 homes at $20K?? That's the upscale stuff. There's 127 houses under $10,000. For a million bucks or so, you could be the real estate king of Detroit!

The sad thing those advertisements really show is that those homes are for sale now, for a lot less then what they sold for when they were originally built...so many years ago. When you adjust for inflation, it's just a crying shame.

No no no. This is not important. Before we can worry about that stuff we need to figure out how to replace the lost revenue to the governor. Priorities guys... priorities.

Detroit is a disaster. Kwame Kilpatrick (mayor) is the new Coleman Young.... basically raping a bombed out city, to serve himself...a place where the people are too dumb or don't care
enough to replace him... a city too dumb to revitalize itself...

go Lions by the way
