Screwed Again on the Internet

So it looks like I was scammed again, here is the story.

I sent an MS2 system out to KingEFI to have tested. Up to that point communication was good, he received the ECU and then charged me $36 for the repair.
I sent the payment and have not heard from him since.
So all I have is a "name" and a PO Box.

Is there anyway to find out who the PO Box belongs to?

Is there any way to go after the "business?"

Thanks for your help

I seem to recall reading (long ago) that the Post Office will release the name of a P.O. Box owner if it is a business, but they will not if it is an individual.

Hope that helps.

Where are they located? Almost sure that there is a Pelican somewhere near who might know them.

Very Impressive!! How did you get that info? OR fond that he was in NM?
It is funny how now that I wrote this post, he replied and sent a tracking #.
Of course there is no record of the tracking number.
I will give it a few more days and then I will take action.

THANKS!

JC,

Its all on the internet, you just have to know how and where to look.

Got the first bit of info by doing a google search for "kingefi" which took me to the website. Then looked up the registered owner of the website, and of course the owner put his real name and not the name of the computer guy, as well as the actual business address instead of the PO Box. It also listed the business phone, which helped.

Then took his name and went to directory search for ABQ and found several home listings. I could find out A LOT MORE by going to data search's but do not believe that you will need them.

Right now I would call the phone number above and talk to him personally. When he asks you how you got the info, tell him your Brother is a private investigator and he found it for you. Saying words like that usually result in your package being shipped immediately!

IMHO, the tracking number he gave you may be valid, it could be that the parts are boxed up and ready for pickup. Until UPS or FedEx picks up the package and scans it into their system it will come up as an invalid tracking number.

Also, most (if not all states) have a website for the Secretary of State, on which you can do a business/corporations search to find the registered owner and address of just about any legitimate business.
When all else fails, such as website information being anonymouse, Secretary of State searches are usually the key.

So this is the lattest
I was thinking about filing a claim with the local PD, what do you think?

"Heya... well, this is all due to some major BS between the management of my
local PO and myself. Everything should be resolved as of today.... please,
please give the receipt of this shipment till at least this Saturday
afternoon (4/14) or hopefully not- god willing' Monday (4/16) before
escalating this to a "claim" status with paypal.

I am extremely sorry for this delay... And I'm really - really sorry for the
lack of communication... im just dealing with sooooo much crap at the
moment... it's completely overwhelming and entirely un-manageable. I'm
seriously considering ending this business and just taking a day job....
dealing with carrier issues and other things takes %80 more of my time than
manufacturing/ or in this case... the simple repair and shipment! I'm quite
dis-enchanted with the back-end of this business at the moment.

It will get there.... and even if it did/does not (but it will!!)... it IS
insured. I sincerely apologize for the delay, worry/concern and anxiety that
MY problems have brought upon you.

-Matt."

One more thing: Since he is doing business through the USPS, he is subject to the scrutiny of the postmaster office. If he does you wrong, you can file a mail fraud report.

JC,

FWIW, sounds like a guy in over his head trying to run a small business. Give him till Monday, use the tracking number today. If it is USPS, they are not the best at updating tracking numbers. I've had packages show as just shipped that had been delivered already.

Thanks for the advice David, I am going to give it a day or two yet. However I did receive the tracking number on the 7th.
I do feel bad for him if he is over his head, but at the same time I have heard similar stories when I was scammed out of $750 from a guy on this board a while back. Like they say. "one bad apple..."
