Water is a by-product of combustion - could be looking for piston wash, should look for fuel then as well.

i don't call that a restoration,
it's maintenance
clutch and tranny repair
and some cosmetic tweaking....

I got a chuckle out of that too.

The program isn't about "Porsches" or their ownership though, it's about buying something used and re-selling it at a profit. The British seem to like programs on that subject -- at least from what I've seen of their programming re-broadcast in the States.

Flag mirrors was an expensive option for replacement. "2.7l almost bullet proof"?? Great car though. So how does all this equate to American dollars?

Right now, 1 BP = 2USD, so just multiply all the costs by two. He paid $10k for the car, and sold it for $16.9k. The replacement 915 was $3k.

Yeah I am thinking I should get into the business of selling used parts over in the UK. They paid 95 pounds for a pair of flag mirrors. I just struggled to sell a pair of those for 45 US dollars.

The heck with going to Hershey next weekend, its going to be a container and a couple weeks at my cousins place, and hopefully I come home with a pile of pounds.

Thanks for posting it though, it was fun to watch. And it is cool to see an Englishmen, unlike Clarkson, give some credit to a 911.

Rich

you have to keep in mind, that he's a wheeler dealer
he's not a Porsche geek that knows all about Porsches, i'm sure he knows some thing about them, but he buys , patches up and sells any car he thinks he can flip... so far i've seen him with merc, beamers, 2 Porsches, MG's, Wrangler, and a bunch of others...

can't know all the prices of all the parts for every type and brand of car...

That was entertaining and you could tell they all appreciated the car, but I think only the mechanic had a clue.

"Just run it up to six grand and drop the clutch"... uh, okie doke.

Damn chrome lovin amercians.

Hey that's not fair!

I'm an Englishman and love my 911 and Porsche in general. In fact there are a lot of us who feel the same way. Come to think of it, I seem to recall that Clarkson actually likes them and only ran one into a wall and droped it from a crane to demonstrate how well built they are.

I do get a lot of comments though from colleagues and neighbours who express suprise that an Englishman owns German cars.

Why is that?

Clarckson hates 911's, is a Ferrari man

he only reluctantly spoke postively over the GT3RS when it equalled a Challange Stradale, for less cost, and near guaranteed better usability/reliability, even if the Ferrari had a "flappy paddle gearbox" which he also hates
