Anyone Ever Use Carpet Panels?

My wife and I have a rental property that is soon to be vacated. I think we are going to do a few items while the house is vacant for the last part of May including upstairs carpet, a stacked washer/dryer downstairs, and possibly a new vanity in the bathroom.

The house is a single story with a basement, the basement has new (as of a year ago) pergo laminate everywhere except the stairs so it should be good to go. The upstairs has hardwood that I'd love to refinish but the previous owner had the front of the house bumped out and they poured the slab up to the level of the hardwood. I'd basically have concrete at the front four feet of the house and hardwood on the rest. The total area to be carpeted is 800 square feet and a flight of stairs. Quite a few people have recommended berber (sp?) carpeting because of the durability and ease of cleaning. My only concern is getting runs in the carpet.

I looked at the Home Depot website and found this...



They are carpet panels with a non-slip backing and supposedly they work great. The nice thing I see is that the panels can be replaced easily if damaged or stained. The problem would be the panels coming loose or feeling really thin underfoot.

Has anyone used this stuff?

Any experience with stacked washer dryer setups?
