I guess it could have been worse
My son's foot slipped of the clutch of his GMC Sonoma this morning and this is what happened. I'm glad he parked in front of the gate, not one of the garage doors. I think I'll have him park in front of the gate "area" from now on.

Fixable. My foot slipped off the foot on my tractor and it and I went through my fence, & bent the tie rod last year. Had to have looked funny as hell though. Wish I would have had that moment recorded.

We all make stupid mistakes. One morning I was late for work, jumped in my Cherokee, looked over my shoulder to see if the garage door was open and promptly drove backwards right through the garage door! Seems the windows on the garage door were at the same height of the back window of the Jeep. That is what happens when you are in a hurry and don't pay attention.

one tired afternoon, driving my 70 mustang. automatic, .....distracted.....notice the cars on my left beginning to move forward, took my foot off the brake.....boink!.....oops, left turn lane had a light all of their own!

I was once parked on a fairly steep hill with my 67 Bug. After going to a friends to...umm...relax I got back in the car and started it up. My buddies pickup truck was parked in front of me, and I was trying to figure out whether to just pop the clutch and back up quickly or keep the parking brake on and ease out the clutch, backing up slowly. I finally decided to just pop the clutch, but during my deliberations I forgot to change from 1st gear to reverse. Popped the clutch and the dock bumper of my buddies truck rode right over my front bumper, turning my front hood into a nice "L" shape." Spent the next couple hours with a small sledge trying to pound it back...

I was in the garage working on my Jetta a couple weeks ago. Had my foot on the clutch, revving it... trying to isolate an odd rattle at ~3000 RPMS.
A little clip for the clutch cable snapped, I was in first gear and the car shot forward into garage wall. My wife runs out to the garage, sees the car smashed against the wall and says: "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!?" LOL

Jesus, Hugh, while I was waiting for the picture to load and reading the type I was anticipating that he rammed your 911 or worse. (The AM). That was a long 4 seconds...
The fence is an easy fix, if I was in town I'd come over and help.

When I was 20 years old I had bought my 1st RX7. It was a 1985GS and the 1st Gen RX7's have a hand pulled choke to activate to start the car, it will release as the engine warms but you had to pull it to start the car and get it to warm up.
I religously warmed that car up every morning before heading out to work. My dad had his Honda Accord in the car port I was religated to the driveway. I used to push dads car foward until the front bumper was about 3" off the front wall of the carport then put my RX7 really close up behind it. This way the morning dew would not accumulate on my RX7. I started it up one morning and when to get out of it, I left it in 1st with the choke on and it doing about 3,000 RPM's as I stood up the car took off, hitting the Accord and then just chirping away at the back tires as it was trying to push through the Accord. It seemed like forever but it was a second as I dived in and pushed the clutch back in. A little scratch was all tha damage and it was on my front bumper. My RX7 was so much lower than the Accord it tucked under it and did no damage to it. I never did that again...

Another quick story.
I had been teaching my 12 y/o son to drive stick in my MINI at the Mall at arounf 7 on Sunday mornings. At the time the Audi we had was a 6 speed manual as well. My wife had washed it and told the 12 y/o he could pull it in the garage. He kept stalling it over and over then just gave up. Thank god!! When my wife told me what happened I flipped out and told her we were VERY lucky the car kept stalling. He was nto ready to do that and could have drove it through the wall.

my 62 olds has drive in the position my truck has reverse on the shifter. Since I sometimes swap vehicles a couple times a day... many times I'm looking backwards and drive forward or vice-versa. Pushed the 911 forward an inch or two when I thought I was backing out the driveway the other day. then there's the time I reached thru the half open window of the 911, hit the key to turn it over while working on the fuel system.. it started up... in 1st. sawhorses, washing machine, etc kept it from going thru the wall while I tried my best to hold it back and turn off the key at the same time. Wish I could have caught that incident on film.
