Take him out to the local BMX track, see if he is interested, don't believe the $150 of a bike for a kid that age is a waste BS as you get what you pay for and if your son get interested in BMX, you will be throwing money away on a cheap bike. If he gets into BMX, you can get a bike and ride with him, many dads do that and it is great bounding and keeps him out side, active, out of trouble, no fatty kid there. On the helments, I like Doug, rode in shorts & vans tennis shoes, built jumps & tracks in the woods and kept out of trouble, and I, at 41, still have been known to take my bike and build a few jumps

Those are great photos, thanks for posting them. It takes me back to Sarasota 1977-78. Somewhere I have old photos -a few of homemade jumps and at least one jump that went into our bass pond. There's no fun like fire ants, banana spiders, and searching for shark teeth in gravel parking lots.
