What is this CA TREE/PLANT??????
Found them on a tree in Disneyland......
Green is as on the tree Brown when on ground  Open:

Jacaranda have pods like that. We have one. They're pretty when flowering...but a tad messy.

I'm reviving this old thread with a question for the tree experts here.
The fairly-large Blue Jacaranda we've got here has shown virtually no signs of life yet this spring. I literally thought it was dead but today I spotted a few tiny green sprouts. Normally these trees green-up completely and start blooming in spring into early summer. It's nearly May now. The Jacaranda trees near my office in Santa Monica are way greener than mine. Could this be a side-effect of the several sub-freezing nights we had this winter, or soil toxicity or some other weird problem? It would be a major bummer to lose this mature tree as it's a significant privacy barrier between our yard and the neighbor's on that side...

If it ain't broke let it be...I had some plants that looked like the sub freezing weather we had killed em..turned out they have resprouted..so give yer tree some time.
