More Auction finds
I found a coupla items today.
First is a Joesph Egg of London Percussion Pistol...circa 1840. Egg has the distinction of being the co-inventor of the Brass Percussion Cap, and is a well known London maker of pistols. Since this Pistol doesn't have a Ramrod, and the Grip is of an unsual shape it probably was at one time part of a Cased Set of Dueling Pistols or perhaps a Target Pistol. Notice the engraving, Platium lined Vent Hole and Gold inlay..nice gun for $535. PHOTO BELOW Second is a Colt 1851 Navy with orginal Holster. Look at the pictures of this pistol very carefully, and tell me whats unusal about it. The gun has lost almost all of its finish due to be stored in the Holster. However the gun is all matching numbers and is in very good mechanical working order. I'm taking a chanch on this pistol, due to its unusual configuration which could make it fairly valuable variation. After lasts week find which I don't believe turned out so well I am a bit gunshy..no pun intended. This cost a bit of change 2K. I personally didn't notice the unusal feature of the gun until I found out how high the bidding had gone on it, then I gave it a close 2nd look. I just hope I'm not 0 for 2. PHOTO BELOW BTW:Last weeks find I believe will work out OK, in that I'll probably come out whole on it.

Not much detail but the sights look 'different' from the ones I have seen ...

No its a Colt 1851 Navy..serial # shows 1864.
I won't keep U Boyz in suspense. Its a cartridge conversion from percusssion. There were 3 main types Thurer, Richards and Mason. This looks like a Thurer, but I'm not holding my breath. They made 5000 Thurers, so its fairly rare. Its also been FAKED quiet abit. So we shall see. The Joesph Egg is a straight gun and is a GOOD value for the money. It was an expensive gun in its day, with the Gold inlay and all. The milled Receiver on the Aresnal is the BOMB, and the trigger pull is impressive...
