Don't forget lots of natural light. Sliding glass doors let the light in low, a good thing. Put the compressor in a ventilated, insulated cabinet.

Are you going with the conventional garage door(s) or a roll-up?

Since you asked for pictures for inspiration, here you go: these are pictures of my new garages. The building on the right is 56'x30' and is used only as a show room. The main building on the left is 72'x36' which contains my main workshop, storage, lift area, etc. Attached to the right side of the main building is a 48'x24' area that will be my spray booth, and "overflow parking" Attached to the left of the main building is a 40'x16' area that will be strictly wood shop, to keep the sawdust away from all the cars.

A shot inside the show room:

I'm still in the process of moving in and decorating, so it is a little bare right now.

Cheers!
-Nick

Nick, how did you attach your lean-to additions? I am looking to add onto my 60 x 80 pole constructed building and am trying to decide on how to do it the most economical way.

Tim,
I'll take some pictures for you later today when I head out there. It is all standard steel structure constructed by FBI buildings. I'm pretty sure I even have the pamphlets that describe how the roof lines are adapted and the such. If I find them I will email them to you.

I'm thinking roll up so I can keep the ceiling clear.

Thanks for the inspiration. Your shops are simply magnificent! Are you looking to adopt a 38 year old? By the way, what kind of paint is on your floor? It looks like U-Coat It.

Thank-you! I will have to check with my wife on the adoption, as we currently have a 6 mo daughter, and it looks like in December we will be getting custody of my sister-in-laws 6 mo daughter, as she and her husband are getting deployed to the sandbox... Thank goodness I'm done with that and home for good!

As for the floor, it is u-coat it. I have already abused it, and I can't complain... one bit!

Cheers,
-Nick

I built one just like Jim729. 30 deep 40 wide office, clean room, machine room The rest is for my car. BUT my kid took over with his MG ,VW , and Triumph. Now I have a little corner. I used pressed plywood for walls so i can attach anything anywhere and not worry about studs. I also painted in gloss paint makes it bright in there. I would like to do the nice floor, but that is big bucks.I can sweep and mop after my kid. You will love your man shop.
