Why no turbo's?

I was just wondering why the majority of Porsche racecars in URY914's Random 911 Pictures thread most of the cars are normally aspirrated and very few of the cars appear to have turbo engines.

Is there a specific reason that Porsche does not use many turbo engines to race presently? And I know that the 935 was a turbo setup. bi-turbo, too? With such an amazing car and huge amounts of horsepower why the switch to N/A? Is turbo lag the main reason or also the 'lump' of power turbo engines deliver compared to a more linear N/A engine?

Didn't the first 935s have 1 giant turbo, and they eventually went to the twin.

I can only guess that it's a combination of things. 1 turbo's are probably handicapped when they race other cars, so it may be easier to run NA. 2 It's probably cheaper to run NA 3 turbo's are probably reserved for the highest/er levels of racing where things are more unlimited.

I think in the last 5-10 years I've seen some GT2s/turbos in the GT2 class of racing, but it's cheaper to race in GT3.

Generally there are a lot of penalties associated with turbo cars. Obviously displacement, etc.. are limited more than NA cars. Since turbos as a rule (yes I know not always) do not make as much torque as peak horsepower) the displacement decrease is felt more keenly I suspect.
