Towing/Hauling forum?
Just got a trailer for DE's and such, anyone else interested in a forum just to discuss tow vehicles, trailers and other like issues?

Check out the DE / Racing forum here and on Rennlist. Many a trailer setup has been discussed in both.
What kinda trailer/truck combo did you get? I'm picking up my Ford Explorer Sport Trac V8 this weekend, and I've already bought a steel open trailer. -Z-man.

I'm supposed to go pick up my trailer this weekend. I have never towed a car before, but after almost 14 years of driving to and from DEs, I am going to tow to Barber Motorsports Park next month. Should be an adventure.
I'll be pulling an 18' aluminum trailer (open) with my Toyota DoubleCab.

I am towing a 16' steel open trailer with an 04 expedition. Nice pull with the aluminum trailer, I keep looking at that new Tundra and drooling.

I think a towing subforum would be a good idea....

Just got back from the dealer to quickly inspect my new Sport Trac. I ordered it with all the options I wanted and none of the ones I didn't want.
Will finalize the sale on Saturday. Here's the truck: ![]() You can't really see it, but on the front fender, that's a V8 badge. ![]() ![]() Class III trailer hitch, hard tonneau cover, power up/down rear window, and inside the bed, I have the bed extender cage as well. ![]()

My best friend is loaning me his 16' steel trailer. I've never towed a trailer with brakes or anything more than 3000 lbs. (This will weigh close to 5000 lbs loaded.) I know I need a brake controller, but I don't know much beyond that. My truck has a towing capacity of 7800 lbs. and a tow/haul mode for the tranny.

Thule makes a great brake controller, from what I've been told. If your truck is pre-wired for a brake controller, it's a simple plug and play setup.

I believe my truck is pre-wired. It does have the seven-pin plug in the back. (Not that that means anything.) I've looked under the dash and I've only seen the ODBC II plug. What does a brake controller plug look like.

The wiring connecter for the brake controller would probably depend on the brand of controller.
Although now that I think of it my Draw-Tite unit and others ive used have the wiring coming out of the back of it, with no connecter, just a long pigtail to splice into.
