Come on.... if you make $20,000/year out of the parking lot at Home Depot, and you have two kids in K-12 at $7,000/year/kid, you bring what to the table as a benefit? Well, I didn't read each and every link to snopes, but there musta been something there about illegals or Wayne is OT in OT.

OK, Wayne, I gotta take you on here: The first part is right on and technically and feasibly removing people is impossible. 2nd point, I agree, secure the borders (for a number of reasons). However, since unemployment looks low to you statistically, it's not the case. Many boomers have lost their jobs and just decided to live in a different way than file for benefits and pound the pavement (how else are the figures gathered?).

But, at the end, you just don't feel the undercurrent yet. The recession is here just like in 1990. Not everyone felt it at first, it took until '92 for the numbers to be shown. Lastly, you may be right, but the jobs will go to the low bidder. Up until this point in time, anyway, the low bidder seems to be the illegal or the person hiring the illegal (or nearly illegal). Ask me how I know.

If you want to know which way the wind blows, ask a shoe salesperson, not a plumber. People can always get some more mileage out of their shoes, but they hate cold showers and stopped toilets. And don't ask a Pelican customer because P-car owners don't in any way match the overall demographics. Only an opinion there, I can't back that up.

Well, I can tell you that "just signing in at the door" isn't a real smooth process. The INS is one of the most painful organizations to deal with. It took 13 years of red tape and waiting to help get a green card for a family member. I could honestly say that anyone not having a well informed sponsor would have a hard time getting in. Now of this has anything to do with security or the INS being careful. There are a LOT of people trying to get in and only a certain number of slots. You don't even get to deal with the screening issues until your number comes up.

I am not defending illegals, but let me tell you, its a rough process to get through and I am not surprised that many people would choose to avoid.

By definition illegal alien are law breakers. I don't advocate tracking these law breakers down, but turn up in the system as a criminal again and you're out forever.

Yeah, it riles up folks even if the main thrust of the thread is abuse of power and 3,400 needlessly dead Americans.

In the real world, the illegal worker is absolutely vital to the function of the US economy. All the weeping and wailing about legality is due to the convenience of the topic. It requires so much more emotion than thought.

Meantime, a law allowing Mexican truck drivers to freely navigate the highways of the US nearly went through -- stopped by Congressional action today. Turns out a 'secret tribunal' put in place by the NAFTA agreement dictated full access for Mexican drivers and their trucks -- despite a complete lack of special licensing or inspection of those trucks. It was a close call, because few Americans were even slightly paying attention.

Yet another step in abandoning American sovreignty by the Bush2 admininstration and its corporate owners, and it went unnoticed by the vast majority of propaganda-fed Uh-mericans. But all is not lost. Most can tell you how many days of jail Paris Hilton was sentenced to serve.

The survey included 944 military respondents interviewed at several undisclosed locations throughout Iraq.

For a Zogby poll that's a small number, but there are only so many boots on the ground over there. Someone risked their life to get these numbers to us, the least we can do is read them on our computer over a morning coffee.

Polls can and are skewed in many directions to cause a specific result or outcome.

Le Moyne College is a Jesuit, liberal arts college founded by the Society of Jusus. Give that a religious liberal arts college may show some bias in their conclusions and questioning, can we really trust this poll or any poll for that matter blindly?

Let us remember that in a resent Time/CNN pole respondents said they thought Rain was the most influential person in the world. Those same idiots said Sanjaya Malakar was third. Polls generally have less than no meaning.

This poll has a glaring bias in that 10% of the soldiers in Iraq are female and 25% of the respondents are female soldiers. Coincidental 25% of the respondents to some question think we should leave Iraq immediately. ???

This is in no way an attempt to denigrate any of our soldiers in the field but it would seem a reasonable conclusion that female soldiers, separated from family might tend to be more prone to respond differently than their overwhelming male counter part.

You will notice that the actual questions were not listed so we have no idea what bias those questions might pose.

Possible Question # 1 Given that it is a 100,000 degrees out today, do you think the army should send you home soon.
1) yes, now
2) yes, but not for a year or two
3) no, I love the heat
4) no, I don't miss my family
5) no, I want to stay here and raise a familymily

I don't know how we should interpret this information but I do know it's incomplete.
