| Registered | Chino Airshow this Weekend
To all people who are interested in aviation, aviation history and a “just good time”… The 2007 Chino Airshow is this weekend.. And I would like to tell all you Pelicanites how good it usually is. I have to admit I’m biased and would enjoy watching any airplane with a radial engine. Anyway- It’s a private venture so there is a fee at the gate…$20 But it goes for good things like avgas for the birds and the remainder helps fund the air museum. I have spent years at this airport and museum and know most of the fellas running the show. Good guys… Anyway- The show usually has a the best assortment of WWII aircraft including the only flying Japanese A6M Zero. Usually there are many P-51 D’s Mustangs, P-47 Thunderbolts. TBM Avengers, F-4 wildcats, F-8F Bearcats and a list of many Including Spitfires. You will see some really awesome fly bys .. high speed ..Nothing like the sound of 4-5 P-51’s running hard WOT buzzing the runway. B-17’s and B-25’s flybys. Anyway, If your in So-Cal this weekend definitely consider it…. Planes of Fame website (Home of the chino Airshow and Fighter rebuilders) http://www.planesoffame.org/

Thanks for the post and this is an excellent air show! Wish I was closer as I would love to attend! If the sound of a old round engine or V-12 RollsRoyce Merlin does not give you "wood" then you might as well be dead... Joe

Joe, Most definetly...There is a special place for these magnificent machines...I've been in love with them all my life...Harly Davidson owners/lovers like them because they have a "slice" of a radial engine and the sound.. Nothing like the roar of a R-2800 or a V-1650 packard Merlin...Goose bumps .. too cool.....

I am partial to the sound of the Merlins and then of course any airplane with a variable pitch prop revving hard on a down line with the prop barking.

Actually they will have both the Beech 18 and AD-1 Skyraiders. They actually will have many Skyraiders in different variants, I like the F-8F Bearcat also parked behind it.. That bird runs a Wright R-3350 with an electric prop. Its 500MPH bird... awesome. Didnt notice at first...the Lockheed Vega with Amelia standing in front...cool. Nice car...Does anyone know what kind of car that is...???

Have to agree that the Chino museum and airshow is great. I used to live over in OC and went to the museum many times. Took my Dad to the airshow one year during one of his visits across the pond. They flew loads of great stuff like the Northrop N-9M Flying Wing, a whole flight of Mitchells, loads of warbirds and modern jets. They did a really cool flight with two Thunderbolts, one an A-10 and the other a P-47 flying together. Well worth the $20. I love the sound of Merlins too, nothing else quite like it.
