Need more computer help!

While setting up my new laptop, I must have hit some combination of keys that turned everything 90 deg. to the right. My desktop, icons, everything. Reboot did nothing. I can barely control the mouse now. How can I reset this to make it display upright? Please help! Thanks.

Try this:
Quote:
Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up
Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees
(If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl-Shift-R)

To fix the issue press Ctrl-Alt-Up.

To permanently fix the problem go to:
Start >> Control Panel >> Display >> Settings >> Advanced

I don't know that the combination of keys will be the same for all laptops.

turn your laptop on it's side to make it easier to use your mouse.

Then go to Start -- control panel -- display.

Somewhere in display will be the way to "rotate" your display.

It would help if you told us what model of laptop you have.

Dammit Rick, I told you to stop eating the worm with the mescal!

You are laying on your side, there is nothing wrong with the computer!

Thanks. The Ctrl./Alt. and up arrow fixed it. So frustrating.

This is hilarious, sounds like my wife and her computer. The only thing is she just says " I never touched anything, it just happened" drives me crazy but after 36 years, you learn to live with it.

Well, I know I did cause it. I just don't remember which combination of keys I hit. It's a new laptop to me, so the keyboard is of slightly different dimensions than I was used to.

Just kidding, I was laughing more at my own situation than yours, no offense meant.
