Tromix Modded Saiga Short Barrel Shotguns
I bought a Saiga 12 ga. shotgun along with my little (slightly gun crazy) brother before moving to Germany.
He is having his converted (and trying to con me into doing the same) into some of the most evil looking, absolutely non-sporting, down right scary magazine fed semi-auto shotguns ever produced. There is absolutely no point in owning one of these as they are useless for anything outside of gun owner "entertainment" and plain ol' "cool factor." ... but then again I guess that IS the point... It looks like our friends at the BATF may decide to make these illegal at any time by classifying them as destructive devices. (Which I can actually understand... sort of) So, I just had to get one while the getting is good. My brother has several short barrel rifles and is planning on having his Saiga shortened to 8" in lengh. It will be a hoot to shoot! The anti-gun crowd is sure to love this: ![]() ![]() ... wait... I think I just heard a San Francisco resident scream in terror after reading this thread... ![]() ![]()

If you can find a Saiga (they are scarce now because people are worried about an impending ban) you can get a 12 ga. for about $400. Then you can send it to one of the few companies that customize them to accept a pistol grip and shorten the barrel.
Cool huh.

Was there supposed to be a 1 in front of the 8? Jim

My brother says the conversions start about about $400.
Tromix is by far the most well known converter and appears to do top of the line conversions. There is a wicked video of a full auto SBS on this page: http://www.tromix.com/Welcome.htm

No, ... 8 Inches.
![]() He's a nut. ...and single so he can spend all sorts of money on these things. He has to get a special clearance with the BATF to own his sort barrel weapons. Too much of a hassle for me. But he likes them.

Cheap home defense/cool looking shotgun. My old Mossberg 500 with some mods (18" barrel, cheap ATI folding stock and foregrip, Surefire G2 light).

Must. Have.
I wonder if I can get one in CA. I'll sure as hell try though. I have a shotgun (for home D) on my "to purchase" list, along with a high-powered rifle (30.06 or equivalent). If I thought I could get an SKS or similar instrument without it being a horrendous PITA here, I'd do that too. Then I'd have pretty much everything I need (already have a PC9 carbine and a pre-ban Glock 17).

They are not allowed in CA.
...which means you are safer. Most cool guns aren't allowed in CA. ...wow, that must mean you CA guys are really safe. I guess those bank robbers from Point Break really screwed it up for everyone.
