I think I may be able to save the American motor industry as I think I've found an answer to Detriot's problems meeting the CAFE quotas.
It was the aircraft carrier in the 'German Engineering' thread got me thinking. That super carrier is massive, and over here in the USA everything is bigger - heck even robins are twice the size of the ones in Britain. But there is one exception. There is one thing that Britain has that is bigger that we have in the US and frankly that's unacceptable and I think something needs to be done about it. As you probably know, the US gallon equates to 3.785 liters, but the British gallon is bigger at 4.546 liters. So all we need to do is switch to using the British gallon and we can immediately increase mpg by 20%.
