A local sporting goods chain has these for sale (again, must have not sold out)
Anyone have a Ruger .44 flattop and do you like it? Are they SA only? Adjustable sights? I already have a 9mm and a shotgun for home defense and I don't hunt so this would be for fun shooting. I have shot my friends colt .357 and .44 and I want a wheel gun... should I hold off and get a .357 instead because it is a little more practical and easy(er) to shoot? A part of me wants to go totally in the opposite direction and get a very practical .22 (most of my shooting is at an indoor range) however the big forty four sure looks cool. ![]() TIA

One of the finest revolvers ever made. Yes, it is a single action. Yes, it has adjustable sights. You can shoot .44 Specials in it for cheap, low recoil practice. I have a number of Ruger single actions in various configurations from .22 caliber up through .45 Colt. I love them all.

I was hiking Little Mt. Si with my daughter today, and I was carrying my Ruger Blackhawk .357. They are excellent guns. The flatop is a nice gun, but why pay the premium for a 'collectors' gun, if you want to take it out and shoot it? .357 is cheaper, and if you want to go really cheap you can shoot .38 throught it.
You didn't mention the price range you are looking at. If you can go a bit more expensive, you really should look at the S&W 686. Double action, very accurate, and fine looking to boot. |
