HP Junkies
Calculators that is.
Was wandering in Best Buy tonight when lo and behold what do I see. An HP 12C. I thought they stopped making/selling them years ago. It was branded as a 25th Anniversary Edition. I bought mine 23 years ago for my Mechanical and Electrical Engineering courses and still use it today. Best calculator I've ever used. The "new" one looked to have a slightly "different" build quality but nice to see that Old School still rules.

Holy Crap!!
Heading over to Best Buy in the a.m. Thanks for the heads up. I used to make them sing. I sat on mine in my back pocket in July of 1999 when I was laying out I-95 through West Palm Beach for widening. It broke my heart and I was handicapped after that. I have a 41 that I used and now a 48 but I still miss my old 12C.

Jim,
Bummer, I just looked at mine. I have the 11C. The 11C is the engineering calculator. The 12C was the finance version. They look identical until you take a close look at the function keys.

I have my 20S i purchased over 20 years ago. A couple of years back I worried that one day I may loose it and in an evening of impulse buying picked up two more on ebay for little money.
If you aren't proud you might check ebay. |

I have a 11C and a 12C. Actually, three 12Cs.
You can find the 11Cs on eBay, but they are spendy - $200 or so. Here is an auction, at $86 with 1 day to go, and might go for less than typical because won't appeal to a collector. The 25th Anniversary 12C is the Platinum Edition which is slightly improved from the original 12C. Faster processor, added parentheses and undo, etc. Made by an Asian subcon for HP. For a geeky discussion about the Platinum Edition 12C, http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv015.cgi?read=79432 I can't use algebraic calculators, make mistakes every time I try. So I tend to pick up old HP calculators so that when/if HP gets out of the RPN calculator business, I will have a stock of calculators.
