The Twlight of Civilization.
It has been nearly 6 years since a Terrorist event has taken place in the USA. In that time several apparent attempts at mayhem have been thwarted. However it is the consensus that it will only be a matter of time before such mayhem will occur. The outstanding fear is that it will be a big event taking many tens of thousands of lives and effecting hundreds of thousands of people, perhaps simultaneousily in 2 major cities in the world (LA and Toyko were mentioned) If this event should occur Mr Krasner former Under Secratary of State for Policy said that the response of the West will be massive, no longer will the West care about the nicities of diplomacy but will strike back with a heavy hand. This will in effect change civilization as we know it. So U might say we are in the twlight of civilizaton and are on the verge of something far more ominous.

what are you smoking?

flabs, let me ask you a question? do you stay awake all hours of the night worrying about this stuff ? it's not good for your mental or physical health.
the likelihood you will die in a terrorist attack is very very small. So it's not even worth thinking about it. it's like getting run over by a truck on the way to work. do you think about that as well? I think we are more brainwashed by the media than anything else. btw, if 3K dead every 50 years is the price to pay for freedom, then that ain't so bad. unless of course you are in that group. then it's bad. |
What else does he have to do?
|
U don't need to be dead or wounded to be irrevocabily effected by Terrorism.
I don't lose any sleep over this, there is no use in worrying. However being aware of the changes that will occur eventually is prudent. Also be aware that there are people who do stay up late worrying about this stuff. I am basically only stating Paul Krasners assement of whats going to happen. |
There are pirate programs all day on the History Channel. One of them was discussing modern day piracy. Another one was discussing Al Qaeda and piracy.
There were some operatives who siezed a ship and didn't take any loot. They were studying how to navigate the ship, etc. It is suspected they may be planning to use a natural gas ship to blow up a city. There was an accident in the 1910s in which a ship carrying gunpowder (I think) crashed into Nova Scotia and destroyed 1/2 of Halifax and killed or injured thousands. |

If we take another hit like 9/11, I would not be surprised to see Mecca and Tehran be nuked. Oh yea, this is if a President with a backbone is in office. If Obama or Hitlery is there then they will apologise for our existance and offer to pay for the dead terrorists funerals. |

Thanks Jim and 74
Jim, I was trying to find more details for that post, but I friggin couldn't find it on the internet. I didn't pay attention to the name of the ship and I thought thousands died, but I didn't want to misspeak on the figure...... Now with a natural gas ship..... How do you physically stop something like that, with the ship on autopilot and all......? |

I was thinking along similar lines the other day and concluded that if anyone uses a nuke, we can all write off the region where it was used and all of the resources. Now, a bunch of radio active oil would be an interesting commodity. (Oh, so it's underground, how ya gonna get it out?)
Completely on the other hand, at my age I'm at the twilight myself, so I personally don't give a rat's ass what happens. I'm just thankful for the great times I've witnessed in my time here. |

BS
The easiest attack is destroying the water supply to So-cal. That would do more damage to ecomony and cause more panic and problems than anything else, inside the use. And it wouldn't take a nuke. That said, I think the next attack will be biologic in nature. |

Destroying the So-cal water supply would definitely get everyones attention but could probably be repaired and back on line fairly quickly and would effect mainly So-Cals economy for a short time. New York city water supply would be the one to go after as it would be nearly impossible to repair and would truly make the city uninhabitable for a long time. A nuclear blast lasts pretty much forever... and is much more spectacular. |
