Young's Double Chocolate Stout
Wow! This stuff is REALLY yummy. Seems it's best if not too cold so you get the chocolate scent while drinking. It's just too bad that a half liter is $3.
Wifey and I were out today and stopped into an ecclectic little restaurant. A couple of things on the drink menu caught our eye so we tried them. Lindeman's Lambic Framboise was quite yummy. It was also very sweet. But the Young's Double Chocolate, wow. The Young's is smooth and creamy with a strong chocolate aroma (more aroma when not too cold). I'm a huge fan of Guinness Extra Stout, and now also Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Hmm, I bet it would make a good Young's Double Chocolate Stout float with some good vanilla ice cream.

I tried some a few years back and loved it too. At the time I was into making my own beer at a local brew pub. Tried several mods to basic Oatmeal Stout and it came out OK...or better. Finally settled on a tad of coffee and I forget how much chocolate per 5 gal pot but it was yummy. Problem was that the stuff was not pasturized and was great when fresh but gradually lost flavor even in the reefer over a couple months. Pub went bust and I never got to make another batch.

My first one
Funny, I just picked one up at a specialty shop on Ocracoke Island a couple weeks ago. Maybe I will pop it today.

Finally! ![]() Someone over here has worked out why us Brit's have a reputation for drinking 'warm' beer. It isn't actually warm, just not icy cold which adds to the flavor. It works with a lot of the domestic micro-brews too. But I have to agree, this is a fine beer. A real traditional stout. Congtatulations on this discovery and I hope you manage to find it locally!

I'm guessing that most folks drink beer when icy cold to mask the flavor of bad beer.
