Time for a sailing thread
Does everyone have their boats in the water yet this year? Lets see pics. If they are up & dry getting work done, lets see pics of that too.
Racing season started a couple weeks ago, but I haven't made it out to crew yet. I promised I'd go this Thursday. Looking forward to that. Crewing at the races is a great way to pick up experience in conditions where you might otherwise not go out. Here's a couple pics from the final race last year: ![]() ![]() I also unwrapped the boat this weekend. ![]() My Chrysler didn't go in last year for absence of a trailer. I got a trailer last week, and I'm shooting for an August 3rd launch. Bought some sails on Ebay over the winter, and an electric starter for the outboard. I may pick up a roller furling kit too, I'm thinking CDI FF2, if anyone has any feedback) Lets see pictures!

I sold my 27' sailboat last friday. Sailing in the Mississippi River was just not that great. It's been 5 day's and I'm already starting to look at boat ads.

'Pacific Breeze' is out of the water at Marina del rey as we speak. Have a very pretty girl in a bikini helping me paint the bottom. Am getting a lot of free help from the yard guys.
Will be back in the water Thursday or so, and will do a functional test of the bottom paint at Catalina. |

Does anyone know if and when the America's Cup final will be televised? Starts on the 23rd I think.

I'm not in the water yet. Instead, I'm becoming pretty well versed in West Systems products.

Thanks and wondered if anyone would notice. Out in the middle of no-where is a nice time and place to get some sun and being nude on a sailboat in the Med is a lot of fun... Jim, The boat to get on is the one with the German gals on it. They have a problem with bathing suits (they keep falling off) and know how to have a good time. ![]() BTW, I started sailing while living in your neck of the woods. Got a Folboat trimiran (sp?) sailboat and sailed all over the lakes in the Ozarks. Was a lot of fun.

Alas, we left the Turkish scene on Sept. 12th, 1980. Seems they had a coup going on. May happen again, if the Muslim zealots gain too much political power. Attaturk may have been wise in that regard. The Turks have an interesting political system. If the zealots gain too much power, the military steps in and removes them from power. In the early 20th century, Attaturk was the guy who dragged Turkey, kicking and screaming, out of the middle ages, into the 20th century. The funny thing was...after I'd seen it (topless babes in monokinis) a few times? I couldn't wait to see more! ![]()

At least I had sense to marry a German (ancestry) girl. re watersports, you should see my kid do the 100 fly, he just explodes out of the water.

Pics? I'll post a real gory picture of my boat's worst day if someone posts a bad one of theirs.

I'm starting with the simple stuff, filling a few voids before painting the bottom. The more I dig into it there are a several small chips in the gelcoat that need repair. At this point I just want to get paint on so I can get back in the water.
The real work is to repair damage from my damage due to the boat next door not exactly being tied up correctly. ![]() Hopefully the yard will have that work done by the weekend. |
