I have been planning on having a pool built, until I bought this house, I have always had one. But with as little extra time and as much as is required to maintain one, I've been thinking of a Swim Spa, basically a big Hot Tub. I checked out the The Swim Spa Trainer by Termospas and the Swim Spa by SMI. I want to get back in shape for BMX racing and just to get back into competition shape

my buddy down the street had one installed in his back yard a few years ago, in the late fall. It was finished right about halloween, as was a remodel of his home.
First months energy bill: $6000. Apparently he forgot about how much it would cost to heat in the Colorado Winter. But those all night hot tub parties sure were fun! Of course, that's up here. Someone in your climes may have a better experience.

It takes several hours for the water temp to warm up to spa levels from "workout temps"--not sure you'd want to swim in 104 degree water. So going back and forth from these temps would be the biggest downside to me.

How about a Fast Lane by Endless Pools.
The unit is between $5,000 and $6,000, but it seems to be the mac-daddy. It allows you to adjust your speed, according to your strength and ability, or even the type of workout you're looking for. Randy
