Pwned! by grampa

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070626/ap_on_fe_st/odd_pickpocket_pummeled

Bill Barnes says he was scratching off a losing $2 lottery ticket inside a gas station when he felt a hand slip into his front-left pants pocket, where he had $300 in cash.

He immediately grabbed the person's wrist with his left hand and started throwing punches with his right, landing six or seven blows before a store manager intervened.

"I guess he thought I was an easy mark," Barnes, 72, told The Grand Rapids Press for a story Tuesday.

He's anything but an easy mark: Barnes served in the Marines, was an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer and retired after 20 years as an iron worker.

Yeah, read that earlier while eating my Cherrios. Almost stuck a few on my screen. Liked the part of "blood everywhere". Nothing like a feel-good story to start the day. Hope there is security video.

Of course the thief will sue and the store, grampa, and the police will pay for his suffering.....

I LOVE stories like this.

Heard the other day about some guys acting rowdy on a flight. A retired police office and former marine volunteered to assist flight attendant. Some minor scuffles, they hand cuff the two men.

A woman sitting close to the retired policman's wife asks her,
How can you just keep reading that book with your husband up there? The wife replies (paraphrasing) Oh, hes been stabbed, shot at, etc. over the years. I KNEW how that small incident would end...I don't know how this BOOK ends!

Gotta wonder if he would have been charged with assault if he lived in Europe or Australia...

The only fighting moves today's kids have involve pressing the "square" button and "triangle" button simultaneously.

Speaking of guys who have done extraordinary things...I have known a Antique Gun Dealer for a dozen years or so now...But it was on Sunday that I was told what he had done..First he was awarded the Medal of Honor. Second as a top ranking DEA Agent Pablo Escobar sent 6 Hit Men to kill him. They broke into his house one night and CW killed them all with a knife.

There have been numerous occasions in the EU and Australia where homeowners have been charged with various crimes after attempting to defend themselves. Look at the "Gun Control" thread...

During an annual contest and demonstration of skill, we had a retired Iron Worker (in his fifties) run to the top of the Columbia Tower in full fire fighter gear, stopping a couple of times to change O2 tanks, in about 25 minutes. That's a 68-story building. It's easy to underestimate us old farts.
