Merry Christmas You're Fired - Update
For those of you that read my original thread on getting fired 3 weeks before last Christmas I thought I would give you a follow up.
While I worked my part time job I kept my name out there and interviewed for every job available. Unfortunately no one wanted a 51 year old attorney with 17 years of experience. So I kept the part time job and kept looking and getting rejected. Quite the humiliation at my age. Never been turned down for a job before. Now I was getting rejections on a semi-weekly basis. Turned 52 back on June 18 still working a part time job that I was way over qualified for. Still doing projects on the house. My birthday was definitely not one of my better ones. Then this week, out of the blue, I get a call from the Governor's Office. Could I come in for a meeting? So I go in and they tell me they have heard good things about my legal work. Would I like to take over the Office of the General Counsel for the Missouri Dept. of Agriculture? They really could use a good attorney there. And oh, by the way, the salary is about twice what I was making as a prosecutor. I start July 16. I still keep pinching myself to see if I am dreaming.

Congrats! Great news...
So any new Porsche projects, or do you have to pay down some debt from working part time?

Congratulations! Nice to see a happy resolution to this story!
Good to know good work is still valued. My dad always taught me to believe "in adversity lies opportunity" and this is a perfect example. Hope it goes well for you! Now go nail all those places that hire illegals! ![]()

Congratulations, Kurt!
I recall working at our local Labor department, and dealing with the AAG's that represented us. Ultimately, my assistant director changed the way he dealt with the AAG folks. Previously, he would have ideas about changes to the regulation and would ask "Can I do this?" or "Is this a good idea?" Later, he asked "Is this unlawful?" Different question.

Woohooo! Congrats Kurt. Can you redefine the state law to classify race tracks as an agricultural endeaver so I can come build one and get some subsidies?

very good news, Kurt!! I have a friend who covers North Missouri for the mo. agriculture, Dairy division. He started in nursing home inspections, but his degree from Kirksville was Animal Husbandry, or something similar. Finally a position opened for him, staring in South Mo., finally, North Mo.
good job, good benefits, and home every night, in Knox city. ![]()
