FastPat. Did he get a "raw deal" or did he deserve to be banned?
The debate that never ends...
Did FastPat get a "raw deal" or did he push the limits and deserve to be banned. Just posted on another thread "I am not the only person who feels Pat got a raw deal, by butting heads with you." My gut feeling is that Pat pushed the boundaries time after time and after being warned by several moderators AND Wayne he went one step too far and was banned? How does everyone else feel? Its been over 6 months since he left the forum (I believe) and there are a lot of people who still feel strongly about the situation.

I think there are a lot of people around here that are far worse than Pat ever was and they get a free pass.
And to be honest, I didn't read any of his political threads. I could pretty much guess what they would be about by the title.

If anyone ever went over the line too many times, it is you, Joe. Therefore, if you can stay, so can Pat. I didn't vote because I would have taken option 5.

I quit reading any thread started by Fastpat long before he left. Outside of his political views, he made some contributions here, but he came across to me as incapable of independant thought, or true two-way communication. Just a guy screaming at the top of his lungs that the sky is falling.
How much bandwidth should one guy use saying the same stuff over and over again? I'll have to vote #5. |

This is interesting.
I was told by someone here (at PP) that I shouldn't post a poll like this, back when Pat was booted. Be carefull where you tread Joe, I'm sure some hackles are already up. You might get some of the same PM's (from PP) I recieved when I rocked this same boat.

I mostly agree with Dantilla here. Strip the political crap away and I'm sure he's a great guy. His non-political contributions (responses/posts) were just fine.
He was warned, HE voted #5 first, and that's why he's not here. If he cared about being a part of this 'community' he would have toned it down. That he did not tells me he didn't care.

Re: FastPat. Did he get a "raw deal" or did he deserve to be banned?
If comments were made that would have been detrimental to the Pelican business or company image, then punitive action was in order. If comments were made that simply got somebody's panties in a twist... well then they need to grow a thicker skin. But since I never read the "offensive" thread or comments, I am firmly in the "Who gives a shnit?" camp.
Are people actually losing sleep over this? I doubt Wayne goes home with a hang-dog expression and confides to his wife that the Pelicans are rehashing "that Pat issue" again. And it didn't look to me like Pat had been losing any sleep wondering when he could rejoin the flock. There were often times that I disagreed with Pat's political leanings, and sometimes found his posts and comments downright annoying. I feel the same about nearly every other Pelican's posts.

personally, i like political threads...it's the passion that makes it interesting. I like to see differing views on subjects, I for one learned a bit or two from fast Pat. Take Ron Paul for example, never heard of him before...till Pat said something. Now haviong looked into him (Ron Paul) i see he is the kind of guy that I would love to see in office....
Bottom line, there was a point/counterpoint there that is missing since FastPat got banned.

I think I should have been banned for my social experiment before Pat was.

Only a little over 30% think it was okay to ban pat. Pretty much the same percentages that think Cheny/bush is doing a good job. So what does that tell ya? It says Wayne was wrong but since it's his ball what can ya say. Joe, I bet you're all over the supreme court's decision banning free speech by students too. Give it up man and move on is all I can say.

I miss FastPat. He was willing to voice a dissenting opinion and he took lot's of abuse because of it. Still does. He's probably much better off being banned, internet arguing is not very productive.
In all honesty, I think you, Joe, have been much more offensive than Pat ever was.

Plenty of very cool people here who have the most backward, poorly conceived, poorly defended, cut-and-paste political views that ruin everything. ![]() How to keep the valuable contributions from people without having to listen to their political drivel? Why, a seperate politics forum, of course. |

Thanks for the heads up and lets see how it goes with this. So far its not gotten "difficult" so to speak and if it does Nostatic can close it. Believe that its been long enough since the event happened that people have cooled down a bit, and am ready to take the heat if it gets nasty. Always knew that Milt loved me so thats no surprise. ![]() No PM's yet so lets see what happens.

Robert,
Read this thread: A day at FastPats Its as close as I have seen since it happened. Bet that Pat is chuckling now as I feel that the BBQ was designed to do more than just burn some cow and swill some wine. Hey Pat... it worked! ![]()

My opinion is ***** on anybody who causes Wayne & Co. stress via this board. I NEED the 911 technical forum to survive and i don't appreciate anybody putting their need to be heard in front of that. I don't care WHAT the subject matter was.
