Exclamation Urgent help needed - song for Mum's funeral

Guys and gals,

I thought I had this covered...but stuff is still in boxes since we've moved and I am in a panic...

My darling gorgeous Mum's funeral is on Friday and I need some help to find a downloadable version (and burnable to disc) of Charles Aznavour's "Dance in the old-fashioned way"...I can't even remember if that is the title and I'm in a flap as I still have a whole lot to do.

In French or in English - don't care; just MUST have that song.

Can anyone help please???

Thanks,

Lisa

Lisa,

Cannot find that song at all under that name.

From Wiki, here are his greatest hits:

* Toi et Moi
* The Sound Of Your Name (with Liza Minneli)
* The Old Fashioned Way
* She
* Tu T'laisses Aller
* La Mamma
* Que C'est Triste Venise
* For Me Formidable
* Il Faut Savoir
* Et Pourtant
* Non Je N'ai Rien Oublie
* Qui
* Yesterday When I Was Young
* Une Vie D'amour (with Mireille Mathieu)
* La Bohème
* Hier Encore
* Sur Ma Vie
* Embrasse-moi
* Ave Maria

Any of these the one you are looking for? Considering that I do not speak French, it could be one of the above (in French) so let me know and will see if I can find it for you.

Joe

Sorry to hear of your loss. The name of the song is "The Old Fashioned Way", and it is available on iTunes for $0.99. You can burn that to a disk with the iTunes software. I'm guessing other music services may have it as well.

Lisa,

Here is a video clip of Charles singing your song.

You could try connecting a tape recorder to your speaker jack on your pc and record it into a file that way.

Thankyou! From the bottom of my heart....I'll raid the kids' Itunes cards and owe them 99c.

It's a very special song...I remember watching Mum and Dad dancing to this - they were the most beautiful and in love couple I have ever seen. Now they can dance together again...

Lisa,

I'd never heard this song before, so I gave a listen while I was searching. My own mother passed away 7 years ago, and yet, when I heard this song, it reminded me so much of her. It actually brought tears to my eyes as I could almost see mom relaxing in her chair, listening to this music.

Thank you for re-kindling my memories of my mother, and rest assured in knowing that your mother will always be with you, as is your father. Hold on to the memories, they are so very precious!!!

My condolensces,

Randy

Randy,

The other Aznavour song that we will play is "She"...it would be one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Hold tight to those beautiful memories... I have a lifetime of them.

Brian, special hug for you...

Wolfe, thanks I now have a decent copy thanks to Brian...

Sorry I took so long to get back to you guys; we spent the early evening with the priest and then out to dinner with a P-car mate and our kids. After Dad died and we would drag Mum out on P-car runs; this was the friend I would entrust her to. She loved riding shotgun for him as his driving style was much the same as Dad's - fast and smooth!

The priest married Mike and I, baptized all 3 of our kids and was the ONLY priest Dad requested for his funeral - same for Mum. This guy is one in a million - he's a TOTAL petrol head! He is a mad Italian whose office is full of Ferrari and Alfa pictures; he has had the same conversations on the side of the road with a policeman that we've all had (officer was I really exceeding the speed limit by THAT much?). We're not regular church goers; I'm not Roman Catholic (and Mum is Greek Orthodox) and this man could not care one hoot - he loves us and we love him. We can do anything we want for the service; thanks to him. Billy (8) and Charlotte (9) have written their own little eulogies and Tom (14) would like to write one with me. Tom remembers his Sitty's (grandmother's) perfume - Mum wore Poison by Christian Dior; so I think we'll spray it on the orders of service for everyone. It was her signature fragrance; she didn't wear anything else. We as a family (Mike, kids and me) are to be her escort from the Church...

So...thanks to you guys I think I now have my music list done...

She - Charles Aznavour
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole
Power of Love - Jennifer Rush
Come Fly with me - Frankie (who else?)
The Old Fashioned Way - Aznavour

There are no words to thank you all enough....

Lisa

Thanks Erwin,

To be frank I am numb...I am only 42 and have lost both of my parents now...and I am an only child . When Dad passed away Mum and I drew great strength from each other...we were each other's lifeline.

However, yet again I am overwhelmed by the love and support from Mum's sisters and brother and their families. I also have several very close friends who are my "sisters". I have lots of people looking out for me and I am truly blessed to have them.

Mike is taking the lion's share of the load this time for me - and the kids have not stopped hugging me since Friday. We're all in this together and together we shall make it through tomorrow and beyond.

I do now feel old beyond my years though .

Lisa

Lisa,

Dad went 10 years ago, Mom 2 1/2 years after. We miss them, but they are together again.
Hold and love your family. Laugh and cry over the memories together.
Love to you all.
