My daily is a Chevy S-10 (needs to be a truck) from the last year they made them. I have RWD (no 4x4) with a limited slip, the towing package, and the larger V6. The manual gearbox is a special heavy duty unit with straight cut gears, and I have a lower final drive. I also run car profile Kumhos, which lowes the drive ratio even more. For a truck it accelerates fast and is fun to drive, and didn't cost much, and I can still load it up and haul.
Had to disable the ABS on this truck because under hard breaking the rear lifts a little and the ABS unit kicks in too early. Only complaint is that it has a lot of body roll when you corner at the limit of adheasion, which I do often in this vehicle when it is empty. Otherwise it is very easy to control at the limit with a good mix of understeer and throttle applied oversteer. |
05 Pathfinder LE - full leather, 3rd row seats, kick a$$ Bose stereo, DVD system blah blah blah - I hate it!

97 Mazda 626, getting old but the radio and the a/c work. No car payments for the last 7 or 8 years on it. I'll probably drive it until it has a major coronary.

Depending upon which one the Wife is driving, I use either the '93 Passat turbo diesel or the 98 F150. They are pretty much opposites.
The Passat I have had for 12 years, it has over 415,000 kilometers and moves along burning 5.75 liters of fuel /100 kilometers. (just shy of 50 mpg) It is alright once you get going, but doesn't accelerate as much as it accumulates velocity. I have put in 11 hour drives in the car and am always pleased. Despite the fact I live in the salt belt, I think I can keep the body together for another couple of years. (fingers crossed) The F150 I have only had for 3 years, but when I got it, it had only 36,000 kilometers, (owned by the proverbial old guy who spent most of his time washing it). The 4.2 V6 with 5 preed will haul the horse trailer up the mountain, but compared to the Passat, it burns twice as much fuel, even when empty. Les |

My daily driver is a '93 Ford Ranger extend cab 4wd but.........four new skins are going on my Fuchs today, and next Thursday my German mistress will get an alignment and corner balance. It has new shocks, couple of new torsion bars, new bushings, new clutch, rack spacers, etc. I suspect the Ranger will be lonely until the rains come in October. |

http://home.swbell.net/smasraum/pcar...s/DCP_0747.jpg now its the black one in the foreground. Wifey drives the green one in the background. http://home.swbell.net/smasraum/miat...s/IMG_0892.jpg Some day it's going to be one of them other cars again. |
Finally sold the 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R, which I bought new so long ago. It was a great car for about 11 years. But multiple New England winters were finally showing their toll. So now it's the Porsche for DD duties.

'01 Odyssey and an '04 Matrix XRS. We have 2 kids and all their stuff and friends to haul so the Ody is great for that. The Matrix is fun w/ the same engine as the Lotus Elise and 6 spd plus room to carry a bunch of stuff. It gets good MPG as long as you stay out of throttle, but that can be kinda hard.

This is my daily driver....
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183047539.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183047685.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183047774.jpg It is an absolute blast to drive every day. Fuel consuption in city driving is ridicolous (7-8 mpg) but on the highway at 80-90mph I get 22-24mpg. I bought it 10 weeks ago and put 4k miles on it. On the road there is nothing that can come close to the explosive performance of the car. It has around 400 lb/ft of torque avaliable at 2k rpms. 1st gear tops out at 63mph. 2nd gear at 98mph and 3rd around 140mph. I am not a big fan of forced induction but there not much I can say against this powerplant. The car itself is huge, especially when compared to a 911. It is as wide as a Hummer. The driving position is low and very reclined (reminds me of a formula car). There is enough headroom for tall persons (I am 6'3"). There is no glove compartment or anywhere to even put a cell phone aside a ridicolous net in the passenger's side footwell. 1 cubic foot of trunk space. But it is addictive. I also took it to the race track and it's an incredible machine. It's like a high precision tool that is way beyond my current skills on the track. I love it... |
You have the most bad ass dd on the planet.
Besides my 911 turbo ofcourse....smile. Bill |

911teo: Absolutely beautiful!
I have a soft spot for those cars. And to be honest, and I know this is dangerous to say on a Porsche forum, but whenever I saw one of those Carrera GT/Enzo/GT comparisons in a magazine, I always lusted after the Ford. In part, because it is attainable by us mere mortals (ok, us mortals that have been really good!) but also because it was the only car that was not trailered to these tests. :) BB. |
Thanks BB.
I love the fact that you can truly drive it every day. And because it is a Ford you don't get the exotic bills... For example 2 weeks ago I was at a NASA event when the Check Engine Light came on. I decided to drive back and have the dealer check it... Well it is a Saturday afternoon and I drive onto the service dept at the dealre here in Charlotte. In 2 minutes the guy plugs the ODBII sensor and figures that it's misfiring on 1 cyl... In 10 minutes a new coil and plug are installed.... FREE. Pic of my 2 girls playing Mum and Dad.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183052039.jpg |
I drive a 1961 Baja Bug everyday. It’s a retired SCORE class 5/1600 race car. It’s pretty ridiculous actually… :D

Here's mine. Bought it a few years ago with 30K miles. Did refresh the suspension with Eibachs and new dampers, and replace the headliner and sunroof mechanism, but other than that it has been trouble free.

2001 Chevy Silverado, ext-cab, 2wd, 5.3 auto. I bought it to carry the kart and for house projects. As far as trucks go, I guess it's OK, but I'm not a truck person, I don't like driving a truck, it sucks. I can't wait until my kitchen remodel is done so I can push the truck to the back of the garage and get a 996.
