Why I love the wife

coupel of weeks ago I'm on a conf call and she calls me 3 times in a row.

So I tell the guy I'm talking to I gotta go, must be important.

She is frantic, trying to leave the house, she can't unlock the car because the battery on her remote is dead and she can't find a little screw driver to change it. "Where is the little screwdriver, are your keys here, I gotta go, what do I do"

So I say "just use the key"

Tonight I'm booking a flight and the 3 digit code on my card is worn and hard to read. So I ask her to bring me a pen/marker. As I'm writing it on the back of the card she says "that's not a good idea, you should just get a new card"

My fiance was watching me do the plug wires on the 993 (HUGE job if you don't know about this). While buttoning up, I needed a 10mm allen head bolt that holds the engine tin into a cam tower. I said something like "I need to grab a bolt." as I was getting out from under the car. When I got up she had pulled out some random wood screw from a box I had laying around with a smile on her face like she had just cured cancer. She just wanted to help. It almost brought me to tears.

The other day my wife came home & said, "I saw a really cute little sports car." I said, "What was it?" She said, "It might have been a Spitfire...or an MG...or maybe it was an Alfa...It could have been an Austin Healey...What was it our neighbor Cindy used to have?" I said, "A Fiat". She said, "It might have been one of those."

I asked her what color it was & she said green (which makes me think it is probably British, not Italian). She said, "It was really cute. You should watch out for it." I replied, "I don't even know what I am looking for."

She was trying to show an interest in sports cars, which I love her for.

I've had my car for about a year now. A couple of months ago my wife stated that "my next car" should be a 928! Now she's into seeing 911s for sale and telling me which one I should get. This from the woman who gave me grief for spending a few grand when I bought the 944! Go figure. Yeah, I know I'm a lucky SOB.

My wife attached a small dangling crystal from the review mirror of her daily driver WXR. One day I tried to remove it and she stopped me and said, "you cannot remove that, it's my G-force meter".

... and it actually works, you can see how fast you are cornering based on how close the crystal gets to being horizontal ...

I've also noticed a little chip on the inside windshield, right in front of the rear view mirror, wonder how that got there.

When I first got the 911 Targa, I'm playing with the A/C cause it used to work, and its night in the garage, and the mag clutch won't engage. I'm spending all kinds of time going WTF? Wife comes out and speaks to me an you can see her breath and mine and she says, "Maybe its too cold outside" It must ahave been in the 40s!

Wanting top protect the Targa from any unwanted abuse a 4 and 8 year old can dish out, my Wife suggested using a tarp. I told her that in a year or less I was gonna have it refinished and not to worry till then to wit she replied...

"Well maybe we should put up a wall bewteen the 2nd and 3rd bay of tha garage so to protect it?"

If she ever suggests a hydraulic lift I think I may have a heart attack!

Hey Mike,

Wife and I are showing up the 8th. Wife leaving the 11th, me the 13th, then I'm back on the 16th to the 20th.

Got time for cocktails maybe the 9th, 10th?

Scott

My wife saw me working under the car and said I should get a hydraulic lift, so I'd be safer....

My Mrs came back from a get together at the kids' school one Saturday (I stayed home to play with the car before our recent trip to Spa), she had gone to one of the other mom's houses for a coffee afterwards. Walking up the drive, she saw the nose of a red 911 in the half-open garage. Turns out the husband had only just bought it. She said 'I recognise that, my husband has two 911s'. He asked if I had a 3.2 also and she said 'no, he prefers the earlier three-litre cars'. LOL, my face nearly cracked from smiling.

She even watched 4 minutes of youtube footage of me on track last night without closing her eyes once - impressive stuff!
