Mounting lawn tractor tires, grrrrr
I loathe the process, it's brings me to a blind rage. The rears are easy, but the small fronts are awful! Especially this bastard that had a kink in one sidewall that was set from storage making it all but impossible to seal.
What makes it worse is that I have the tools. On my 74th attempt I finally got it and I'm now going to enjoy a glass or two of Jameson 12 Year and hopefully it will sink in to never do that again.

Here I was ready to be impressed if you were actually mounting a lawn tractor tire. I have to use a skateboard tire.

Yea, about 45 minutes in I decided to take a ride to the tractor place and eat my pride but they were closed. This was really bad because I knew I wouldn't be able to wait till tomorrow and let that bastard haunt me all night

One of the reasons I usually put tubes back in mine.
Trick: Tie a circle loop in one end of a rope, run the other end through the loop, wrap rope around the center of the tire, apply the air and jerk/cinch the rope tight...may take a few try's/jerks, but usually works. Tubes, always work.

Lighter fluid and a match will usually seat them, but it's dangerous if you don't do it right.

I have heard of but not tried ether and a match, I have succesfully used a ratchet strap around the center of the perimeter of the tire to force the sidewalls out enough to seat.

I did use a ratchet strap, but this tire had a kink and the sidewall wouldn't force outward uniformly.
Also, I did use (and have used) ether but in this case that also did not work. When I use ether I do it "around a corner" to be safe, but it's never very safe ![]()

A neighbor mounted my motorcycle rear tire for me the other day with just simple hand tools and it was quite a project. Sure would hate to do this for a living even with the right tools.
