Their lips are moving.

This can be said for almost all of the politicians these days.

We need to vote all of them out, have term limits and start making changes.

Of course Gore is going to run. That was the entire reason he did that "Inconvenient Truth" film.

I watched it last week. That movie was all about positioning Gore to run. And I have to say it was a very shrewd political move. Brilliant even.

The film creates a doomsday scenario that we are hurtling towards. It positions Al Gore as the only politician that understands this. And by extension that if he was in power would do something about it. There's his platform.

Pepper the film with pictures and tales of a young Al growing up on a farm and he becomes much more human and likable that the stiff we've seen in the past. Intersperse with jabs at the current administration and you have a 90 minute campaign film that people actually pay to watch - all while believing that Al is doing this out of his selfless concern for the environment.

Brilliant.

Not only is he going to run, he'll get the party nomination. Mark my words.

Better him than Hitlary...

Just finished watching "An Inconveinient Truth" for the first time and, yes, it is all about Al Gore. But it also has a lot of reality that has been too hard to stomach for most Americans.

A friendly, old, "Reagan-type" teacher leading the class through a Di*k-and-Jane logic sequence seems the only way for the dimmer switch to function these days.

john70t 06-30-2007 10:55 PM

Since the "personal attack" type approach is so popular these days with the "manly-men" on this board ......... it's kinda funny though to compare his cattle ranching southern upbringing to that of the east coast/Yale cheerleader/cokehead deserters'.

+1 on the Hiltlery Joe, but then again she's taking big [cough...bribes] contributions from the medical and energy industries, and of course voted for the Iwreck war with a passion so she's more of a neocon than a Dem.

Gore has never been a rancher, has just recently started living in TN and just recently had his first real job. The guy grew up in a hotel in Washington DC and went to day and prep schools there. He ain't form TN. It's where he spent some summers as a kid. Doesn't really matter to me other than the fact that he tries to make it look like he's a salt of the Earth kind of guy. He's the quintessential DC rich kid and career politician.

Bush has never been a rancher, has just recently started living in TX and just recently had his first real job. The guy grew up on a compound on the coast of ME and went to day and prep schools in MA. He ain't from TX. It's where he spent some summers as a kid. Doesn't really matter to me other than the fact that he tries to make it look like he's a salt of the Earth kind of guy. He's the quintessential rich kid and career politician after failing at everything else.

Ah yes, any criticism of Gore must revert back to Bush.

Shaun @ Tru6 07-01-2007 05:58 AM

just pointing out the obvious double standard and hypocrisy Rick.

BTW, what is Thompson's vision for America?

Rick Lee 07-01-2007 06:11 AM

I don't recall Bush telling anything close to the whoppers Gore told in the 2000 campaign. And Gore's phony biography has nothing to do with Thompson either.

Bush has told more whoppers than any presidential candidate and President in history. Man, where to start?

they hate us for our freedom.

I'll bring OBL to justice

gay marriage will destroy America

tort reform will lower medical costs

the SurgeTM is working

I never did cocaine

the list is too long.

Bush grew up in Midland TX. He has worked in TX all of his life. Gore grew up in Washington DC. He worked in DC all of his life.

lendaddy 07-01-2007 06:20 AM

Shaun is in hyperbole mode this morning:D

Bush spent his youth in Andover, MA at Phillips Academy. he summered in Kennebunkport, went to Midland for Easter and Christmas Dinner.

Interesting how the cult of personality will believe anything. At first I thought I detected the attitude that all politicians are not to be trusted. Besides, what difference does it make where an individual grew up? Aren't things like that irrelevant in the long run? What does it matter what "cause" an individual has? Is GOre's cause on the physical environment any different than Bush's economic/social cause on immigration, for instance? Which affects your life more on a daily basis?

I'm w/Chuck as far as never under estimating a political pro.

red-beard 07-01-2007 07:27 AM

I have only one word:

Man-bear-pig

In all seriousness, I believe he will run. I do not know if he will get the nomination. If he does, he will be very difficult to defeat. He would wipe the floor with Romney and the majority of the Republican candidates. Only Guliani and Thompson would have a chance against him.

speeder 07-01-2007 07:35 AM

What if Gore goes 3rd party and wins? Wouldn't that be the king of ironies?

red-beard 07-01-2007 07:36 AM

Hmmm. 3 way with Gore? I think that would guarantee a GOP win, like Clinton in '92.
