California residents

At what age are your cars exempted from all the EPA's B.S.?
I think its ironic that a state that is pretty much the center of the car show universe would be so anti-automobile..Ive been to Monterey/Carmel by the sea several times and if funds would allow I would definitely live there.

1975 and earlier are smog exempt. Used to be a rolling 30 year, but now it's fixed at that date.

You could never pass the spelling test required to move there.

Wow.

Granted, spelling mistakes are nothing to get into a twist over, but responding with a categorization like that?

Tony......you can attract more flies with honey than you can with vinegar!!

Actually, fluency in Spanih could qualify you for a move to California.

You can thank Arnold for signing the bill changing the rolling 30-year exemption. He's so environmentally conscientious. I hear he signed the bill on the hood of his Hummer.

I actually agree with having a cut-off year for smog-exemption, I just wish it were frozen later at like 1978 or 1979. In fact, I think every state should require smog rules, god knows Detroit and Chicago could use it

They're doing it through the fuel...how many here can say their cars will easily run on E-85?

Best excuse yet I've heard of for getting a pre-1975 914 or 911.

That is what I did, sold a cherry '79 bug convertible and got the 914, incredible how similar they are and how many parts they share. Guess it is not so incredible, same factory.

Another example of poor Cali politics. Really, when looked at scientifically, it isn't the amount of pollution any one car produces that is the problem, but the amount of cars themselves on the road.

Better mass transit is what's needed, at least in So. California.

Indeed... how many pre 75 cars do you see on your morning commute?

So true, even up here in Santa Cruz. They are destroying a once beautiful corridor of HWY1 to widen a stretch of road that will still be overtaxed by the time of completion. Makes me Friggin sick to watch.
