Your judgment of other people you don't know is just plain ignorance. You even judge people based on where they are from . . .

Some people might consider your beliefs bigoted and hypocritical. At the minimum, they're a long way from those beliefs espoused in that book your religion covets so.

I have found in my own life that I get along with most reasonable, intelligent folks of all religions or non-religions from many different places in the US and in the world. I also don't make flash judgments about people I have never seen or met.

I am holding out hope for you that you are actually a reasonable and intelligent person who is just having some fun here. If not, get thee to a nunnery!

Christmas IS a holiday whether I like it or not. Actually I like it. And on holidays, I usually get together with friends and celebrate. Christ and when he was born - or not - has zero to do with this. But it has everything to do with good friends and good food and wine. It could be Santa Clause's birthday for all I care.

Its a Christian adaptation of a Pagen holiday. Its widespead accepted definition of the holiday is Christs Birthday. I am aware the Catholic Church took the Solstice Holiday of the Sun God on Dec. 25th and turned it into the birth of the Son of God to help keep followers in church and not chasing after fun pagen holidays. Hmmmm. I see some irony here.

Twist it any way you want to make it work for you but in the end it is a Christian Celebration of Christs Birthday.

I do not believe it is the right date and Christ never celebrated his birthday as far a biblical doctrine goes, the only recorded mention of birthday celebrations were those of Pagan worshipers. Furthermore Christ instructed his followers to memorialize his death not his birth, bacause biblical doctrine puts more emphesis on his sacrifuce not his birth.

Like I said, make it whatever you want to turn it into so you can partake in the fun but in the end its the Christian Celebration of Christs Birth. It does not seem like something a Pagen who does not believe in god would want to partake in.

Maybe take up worshiping the Sun God?

I am mostly Buddhist because it does not claim a monopoly on truth and believes that your salvation is your responsibility.

I do believe in a higher power, just not one that any single religion could capture.

Want to discuss Valentines day, Easter? All Christian Holidays too, do Pagens celebrate them as well because they are "fun".

What slant do you put on them so you can justify celebrating them as well.

"Honey, I do not believe in God so your not getting a St. Velentines day gift"

Just wondering how you deal with that one as well.

Again, I do not believe in St. Valentine so I do not bother with the holiday. Same goes for Easter, a holiday deeply rooted in Pagen tradition yet a big holiday for Christians the world over. I would imagine, as someone who does not believe in Christ, you do not celebrate the resurrection of him. But, I could be wrong.

You are seriously missing the point. If there is a holiday - I'll celebrate. That's what holidays are for. I seriously do not celebrate the birth of Christ at Xmas - nor do I know anyone in my circle of friends that does. I could care less. But people have time off work and it is a season for celebrating and so we do. I see no deep irony in this - and I certainly haven't understood why it "takes guts" not to celebrate Xmas. Care to explain?

No, its pointless trying to explain.

Your not a christian but partake in christian celebrations even though you do not believe in christ and you do not see anything weird about that.

I get it now, if its fun, you do it even if it goes against what you do not believe in.

Jim, I think that most people wouldn't really go along with your reasoning. All holidays have been hijacked, and the meaning is determined by the individual. There is no "universal" or singular meaning for a holiday.

Having a tree and exchanging presents is NOT a Christian celebration. Going to church on the 25th is. It is a little dogmatic to say that if one take part in any traditions, even if they are secular, that they are "partaking" from a Christian stance.
