Cable lever brakes - hand operated, need sources
I'm trying to rig some hand operated cable brake style controls on my hovercraft handlebars. They are like any other handlebar with the throttle on the right hand grip.
Bicycle, motorcycle, ulta-light or snowmobile supplier, what ever is cheapest, I need a source for supplies I'll need hardware for the handlebar end for each hand and some yokes, pistons, springs, levers to open a 5" air damper.. I have not figured out what I need exactly, but I'll know it when I see a good catalog. Most grip mounted cable brake levers close when you squeeze them. I have to open something up when I squeeze and required some force (spring?) to close when the lever is released. A few images, which might help, or might not. I'm not looking for anyone to design my solution, but I need help finding a diverse parts supplier so I can figure out what to do next. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The levers cannot help you with but if you rig up a pulley and cable you can make the device open or close depending on the way its rigged.
Wicks aircraft or Aircraft Spruce both have good selections. Wicks is in the upper MidWest and believe its not far from your location.

bike stuff is cheap lite and eazy to get
just rig a bell crank to open instead of close you can vary the crank size/ratio to get any amount of movement and use a spring to close the flap/damper |

http://www.flying-pig.co.uk/mechanisms/pages/bellcrank.html I have an old AirWolf catalog and I think the Aircraft Spruce catalog somewhere else, they are in Georgia, right?. Off to the hardware store, I have a second idea I need to incorporate.

Here's one source for bicycle parts:
http://www.thethirdhand.com/index.cgi A bicycle hand brake doesn't have nearly 5" of travel, but that's what levers are for. Sherwood |
