Any travel agents here? Frequent flyers?
I always seem to have crap luck with sites like Expedia and Orbitz and such...and after reading some of the posts here about them, I want to avoid them.
So, I'm wondering...what's the best way to get the best fare for a flight from Paris, France, to Los Angeles California...say in January...the 16th thru the 20th...maybe arriving a few days earlier, even... travel agent? Direct airline website?

We fly a lot and always use a travel agent.
If you have a good agent - they are incredibly valuable. They will have inside info, be familiar with different routing possibilities, get you specific seats and all available discounts etc etc - all for a very reasonable fee. Most importantly - if something goes wrong - you can call them and have them sort it out. We travel a lot - and there is absolutely no substitute for a good agent.

I've only used them for corporate travel, but American Express travel is pretty great.

Book as early as possible. Use a real agent.
