Now it's a show about ford muscle.
Alain is driving a real daytona coupe. Gotta be worth around 3 or $4 mil. Can you imagine if he wrecked it? EDIT, it's a repro. Last edited by sammyg2; 07-07-2007 at 05:35 PM.. |

Yep, and Corvette is next.
(Funny, it's not Chevy or GM...)

Chris I figured you would be watching the Victory by Design marathon.
I think the most interesting thing about those old cars (30's) is how good they had engine technology and how bad the tire and braking was in comparison. Too bad I'm going to miss the F1 race tomorrow because of work.

Do you have a show tomorrow?
I'm Tivo-ing ALMS and F1 since they're on at the same time.

He did drive a real Daytona earlier in the show, the most winning one. He said it's probably the most valuable car in North America, so he should be careful.
I'm a big fan of Alain and the show, but I cringe when I see him set down a hood on the pavement near a car, sometimes on end. In the Ford Muscle show, he kind of slammed the hood of a GT350 and you could see the hood pin clips bouncing on the hood.

I love the Victory by Design shows. I have a few on DVD -- I recommend them because they are longer than the TV shows.
I am hoping to get all of the shows eventually. And I am glad to see more shows being made. I think I read somewhere that Speed bought the rights to the show & is funding the new shows. Watch for a show about the "making of Victory by Design". It is interesting to see/hear how they make the shows. I love seeing/hearing those significant old cars run. Plus I find Alan amusing.

I wonder how they track down all of the cars.
I also wonder if they shoot only in the UK.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the "making of Victory by Design" show explains all of that. I don't think all of the shows are filmed in the UK. I think I saw Putnam Park on a building at the racetrack the Corvettes were running on in tonight's show.
I think each of the DVDs includes the "making of Victory by Design" on them. Alan says they look for sites that are appropriate for the cars & the types of races (e.g., Mille Miglia) they ran in. And they have to purchase a lot of insurance to cover the sometimes priceless cars they drive.
