You can't pick on the ones that weren't supposed to be pretty. It's much more fun to poke fun at the ones that were an honest-to-god attempt at styling.
Just my 2 Cents. :) Lee |

Richard Hammond from Top Gear thinks that the Citroen DS is the most beautiful car ever built.
Then again I have friends who think the Lambo Miura is ugly. |
Ugg, I can't believe anybody finds those trans ams and camaros from the 70s and 80s attractive in any way! IMO, they represent probably the lowest point of American design! Ok, wait, I take that back - most domestics from the 80s and 90s were completely uninspired. But at least they weren't ugly. Those trans ams are just plain fugly!
I know I'll get flamed for my vote for ugliest, because lots of people think these are beautiful, but here's my vote: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183833283.jpg |
Another Chrysler owie. I think it later became the platform for the Barracuda.

If you want pure ugly on a timeless scale, I think you need to put the Daimler SP250 Dart somewhere near the top of list. The Angry Catfish: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183833849.jpg Tim |

Heh, the Element seems to be debated a lot - I actually quite like them. My wife hates them.

As long as we are taking stabs at the boxy cars...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183834830.jpg Don't really care what other people chose to drive... or what they think of what I drive. |
I gotta agree with red beard... the element is a nice box and all, but where's the car that comes inside the box?

to european eyes they are exotica, and having these huge 6,6litre engines under the hood they sound amazing too! they have a purposeful essence to the design, and sceam out loud. the firebird posted earlier in the thread has a real angry face to it, it looks mean and purposeful new alfas echo that look today. its super cool! when they went bland in the 80s they lost their oommpph. just my 2 cents |
"Its a Schmidt car....everybody thinks Porsches are his TRUE Love...but the Big Bird cars are near and dear to his heart...

Ugliest. . . AND stupidest. Leave it to GM to plumb the depths of two categories at the same time.

I agree with Leland that the real ugly ones are too easy to pick. I like the FJ so that one is ok...I think the BMW Z3 was one of them that just looks wrong. The Z4 is much better!
|
Careful. If you start naming the current/recent crop of BMWs, you're liable to wind up with the entire production line-up listed on this thread in short order.
|
Probably an Edsel. Apparently the public thought so as well.

Consider yourself flamed. I happen to think the Alfa GTV is a very good-looking car. In fact, I love that car. I know a lot of other people agree. While you are obviously entitled to your opinion, I would guess you are in a small minority on this one. And as for the Camaros & Firebirds from the '70s, I submit that the following is a very cool & good-looking car. I want one of these too! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183842060.jpg |

Agreed. That thing takes the biscuit. I shake my head each time one of those things drives by. |

http://tinyurl.com/2zgb74 The second generation Barracuda became a distinct line for Plymouth, but still shared most of the suspension and drive train as the other A-body MoPars. The third generation Barracuda finally was manufactured on on it's own platform with few shared components. Some would argue these to be the best of the Barracudas, but the "gas crisis" and new EPA guidelines effectively killed the car. I was a MoPar nut long before I crossed over to the dark side. When I was departing Lowes Motor Speedway this past weekend, I was reflecting back on my years in American muscle. My Barracudas were a lot faster than my 911... so long as the wheels were pointed relatively straight ahead. Another ugly car: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183926577.jpg how dare they block me from hotlinking their images... how rude! |

The late 70's were the worst for american cars. Compare the LTD, Monte Carlo, and Monaco. You'd swear they were clones with different badges.

I only have one word to offer here:
FUEGO 'nuff said. Thankfully...no pictures. |

The good old Hornet. My wife is in Denver right now and she just called and said she went to a huge AMC/Rambler national car show. Her cousin has a nice AMX in the show.
I'm home babysitting the new puppy. lol My brother owned a Pacer (fishbowl) and a Gremlin X during college. That X was actually a hot rod for its day. Three speed on the floor and it handled pretty good. I still kid him about those ugly rides. |
I traded a Tandy 1000 for one of these... still not sure who got the bad end of the deal... I think I ended up selling it for $200.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183849089.jpg Gheeze... you guys have me googleing ugly cars, I humbly submit http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183849138.jpg |

I've been looking on the web and found that the Rodius has been voted the UK's ugliest car: www.carpages.co.uk/news/britains-ugliest-car-13-10-05.asp
In other news Top Gear found this to be the ugliest car of 2007: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183853885.jpg |
Wow
Those are some good nominees.
I submit this atrocity. Not one line flows, it looks like it hasn't finished cooking yet, or something. Another one of the famous Bangle Bungles... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183856072.jpg |
