ALRIGHT: Fiat Multipla too exotic for you? How about one of the all time ugliest American cars ever. Even at the time I thought "How could they actually build this on purpose."
I present; the AMC Matador http://www.uglycars.fws1.com/images/...gham_coupe.jpg |
Oh, so THAT'S a Matador.
|
Did the AMC design team ever get thier crayons taken away? Sheesh! It's no wonder none of those cars ever sold.
I remember some commercial for a Pacer where they make some 5 foot long hero sandwich in the back, while driving. Then another company made a spoof commercial of that commercial. I bet if I looked hard enough, I could find them on the internet. I certainly don't care that much. |
Ahhhhh..SOmeone mentioned the HUmmer...One son in law has one (YUK) His trophy wife drives a BMW roadster...Can anyone say "dinks"?
Actually...Someone mentioned (OK....a LOT of people mentioned the Citroen....) Ever drive one of those puppies? One of the most comfortable sure footed cars I have ever driven. Soaked up ruts and potholes never loosing its composure. And, it is intersting to see a car that was designed with function more relevant than form. When the trunk was opened, it locked in the uproght position and the hinges were so long you still had an unobstructed view through the rear window. How about one of the "cutest" cars? Given the era in which it was born, I like the Studebaker Lark. |
I submit that the '70 firebird / camaro body was inspired by the 911.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183842060.jpg The screaming chicken transam was the car everyone wanted when I was in high school, ca late 70s. I think this car is ripe for a surge in popularity. Ugliest car every? Pretty much anything that came from AMC. Contemporary? How about the new BMW 6 series convertible. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183870460.jpg For $90k or so, you'd think they'd integrate the top into the lines of the car. looks like an aftermarket conversion. I'm just sayin'. |
I think Hummer H2 is about the ugliest and most ridiculous hunk of iron ever. I'd take an AMC car over it any day of the week.
K-Cars were pretty ugly in their lack of not-being-ugly |

Perhaps you were joking? Let's see, rear engine, sloping front hood with headlights sticking up to each side...compared with front engine, long, non-sloping front hood with integrated headlights. Sorry, but I don't see it at all. |

this is not what I would call pretty.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183915137.jpg This car is just too far behind the curve and retro has been over played if you ask me. Leave models like this to Chip and the rodders, build us something new. |

this is an ugly cross-eyed piece of wooden crap...
with a face only it's mother could love http://www.autogaleria.pl/tapety/img..._2000_01_s.jpg and then there's this... http://www.trial.co.jp/osaka/origina...s/wagonr_1.jpg w.t.f. where they thinking making it look 'sporty'? ever heard the phrase 'you cant polish a turd' |

I just googled (google images) kit cars and found this immediately. It is horrendously ugly.
Someone posted a website here a while ago for kit car projects, but I can't remember the name. It had some of the most fugly things I've ever seen. Worse than that red thing.... http://www.davebence.co.uk/ |
Now I remember it... Go here. Enjoy. :)

I can't help myself, it's raining out, and this is just so easy, like shooting fish in a barrel...

haha classic :-)
i found this little gem there - think it would look worse after restoration actually http://www.priceofhistoys.com/wp-con...gle-siva-1.jpg |
I would not count "future design" or utility vehicles like golf carts or equiv. Creating just one ugly million dollar prototype is not as serious as producing one million $20K ugly ones.
There's a fine line between ugly and nondescript. If there's truly 50 in the former category, there must be 1000's in the latter. The history of automobile design - many more misses than hits. Sherwood |
...And least we forget that Japan had it's ugly cars as well.

That car is so beautiful that Tony Montana wouldn't even blow it up. My vote is for the AMC Pacer...and also those hideous Square Honda mini-van things that people are driving around in now. |

i'd like to submit this beast... http://www.nipponclassiccars.org/images/dat120ah.jpg but in their defense this is one of the coolest most beautiful cars of all time (in my humble opinion)... http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01...og/2000gt2.jpg |
My vote go to the new Beetle...!
|
"My vote go to the new Beetle...!"
But does it count that 7 out of every 10 new Beetles are driven by cute-to-hot birds (women, chix etc)? |

To get the full effect, you really need to see a early green model in person! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/puke.gif http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imag...al77/01az4.jpg Keep in mind that this is supposed to be a 4wd -- look at that ground clearance! And what's up with the extra slots on the front hood -- didn't they understand the cooling requirements before they designed the bodywork??? http://i17.ebayimg.com/01/a/000/77/8f/438b_1.JPG http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/dom.gif |
I don't get it! How the hell could Pontiac Executive approve a design like that!! The Asstec is BUTT UUUGGGLLLLYYYYY!!!
|
Years ago, I placed a note under an Aztec's windshield wiper. It read: "They're paying you to drive this, right?" ;)

I tuned into an episode of My Classic Car the other night. The presenter, Dennis Gage, was swooning over a concept car the owner rescued from GM, Ford or Chrysler in the 60-70's. The car's paint, chrome and upholstery were restored to flawless 100 point condition, and it was probably worth a million bucks being only one of a kind. However it too, like the Aztec, is butt ugly. Fortunately for the car industry as in many industries, beauty and butt-ugly is in the mind of the beholder. I can't understand people's appreciation for some of the older vehicles other than for the historical significance of survival through the years. And because of that, they're worth more than my house. In fact, in about 30 years, a shiny, like-new Aztec will also attain some level of fame not unlike that '57 Plymouth they uncovered a few weeks ago in its mud grave. YMMV, Sherwood |
those aztec things didnt come to europe thankfully. the green model is unbelievable. the excellent clip on stylish wheel trims on those 5 inch wheels looks great!
