How much gas do you use in a week?
 

In an average week, I use 7 gallons of regular (in my truck) and two gallons of premium (in the 951).

Throw in my wife, and she uses 3 gallons a week.

So, as a household, we use roughly 12 gallons a week.

I think we're at the low end of the scale. Am I?

Tank full of gas for the M3 once every 3 weeks. 1/3 gallon/wk for the 2 stroke lawn equipment. 3 gallons/wk for the mower. 18-20 gallons/wk of homebrew biodiesel. I'm scouting for a good deal on a diesel powered mower and I'd go crazy if BMW brought a twin turbo diesel coupe to the US.

Two boats, a waverunner (we live on a lake) three cars, mower, etc. I don't even want to know...

Between the 2 cars, 15-20 gallons. My wife works out of the house and I have a 4 mile commute (I do go home for lunch).

More than a tank a week in the 911 and more than a tank a week in my wifes TBird.

However many gallons I choose to use, in whatever week I choose to burn it. Usual running around.. Maybe 10-12 gallons. But you see, I've recently decided that I want to see the Reno Open pool tourney, to be held (I think) in September. The gas used to get there & back at roughly 20 mpg? I dunno, I don't care.

The 911 will be gone by then, so I'll be making the drive in whatever I drive in...as long as it has good air conditioning, I don't care...

Man, I guess I just don't care. Is there a lapel ribbon for that? :rolleyes:

M-F I use about 6 gallons. Weekends, probably anywhere from 1 gallon to 5. For about 10 weeks this summer, my wife is probably using about 10-15 gallons of gas M-F.

37 gallons/week of 91 octane divided between my wife's '03 LR Disco (the big offender) and my '01 Audi TT.

Three cars, two drivers... about 30 gallons per week, mostly because of my long daily commute...

I usually burn about 12-14 gallons of diesel a day or more 6 days a week in my truck. I cruise around several times a week in the 62 olds/394 and 64 tbird/390 and they can go thru a 1/4 tank in no time. it feels like I spend half my day behind the wheel

The more interesting question is how much gas do you make in a week.

Do not even want to think about it. The plane takes about 4000 gallons to fill up and we have done it several times in the last 10 days.

When I am at home I drive the Honda for a reason. Trying to make up for all the fuel we go through at work... and my pocketbook!

Normally I ride R1100S. I use about 6 gallons commuting. If I take the car its about 11. Not sure what my wife does, but I would guess 3 gallons for her running around town. So typically 9, and worst case (when the bike is not running) 14. My commute is about an hour each way.

2-3 gal.

About 2.5 gal/wk for wife (drives appx 100 miles/wk in Prius) maybe 1-2 for me (appx 20-30 miles/wk in 911 or Vanagon). Less in summer when I ride the bicycle some days to work.

25 for me and around 10 for the wife. So 35 for both. Oh and about 4gal for the lawn mower during the summer. I have a big yard.

Mine varies widely, depending on the time of year, whether or not I'm on vacation (I get a lot of those. :) ), classes, etc. But typically, I probably use about 8-10 gallons a week.

avg $3.00 a gallon = $67.50 x 52 weeks = $3510 a year - OUCH

I switch back and forth between the 944 and my diesel truck for my commute to work. I spend about $80-$100 a week just going back and forth to work. Now add on fuel for boat, Waverunner, lawn equipment... :eek:
Wife uses about $10 a week. works 5 mins from home.

617/7 = 88/week

88 x $3.20 = $281.60

My household uses probably 30 gallons of gasoline a week, and I help make about 2 1/2 million gallons a day ;)

I work in a home office and my wife takes the train to work. About the only gas we burn is for the odd errand in the wifes Mazda 3 and fun driving in the 911. In a typical week is we probably burn less than a gallon.

When we go on a road trip in the 911, I can burn 35 gallons in a day for days on end... I guess it all evens out.

Me... 20 Min. commute to work plus errands in the Stranger is probably about 12 gallons a week.

The wife drives from Bremerton Wa to Everett Wa for work every day. She takes the ferries, so I won't count the ferry fuel... I think she goes through about 30 gallons a week or so....

That's about to change thank god. Just her commute (gas and ferry tickets) costs close to $900 per month.

50-60 gallons for work fork me ( my pick-up gets 15-17 mpg, The C6 vette gets 21-24 mpg) I try to drive the che'vette on long hwy mile days.

IF we drive the motor-home with the trailer to go dirt bike riding, it's 6mpg

with out the trailer and bikes it's 10

the people you see towing their cars with their motor-homes everywhere would most likely be better off to rent a car when they get to where they're going



I love hearing people piss and moan about gas who only drive 10-20 miles a day

I work trucks (Toyota 4x4 w/ 4cyl. engines) use about 70 gallons a week.

I personally use 3 gallons a week putting about 50 total miles on whatever combination of vehicles I drive that week.

My wife is the family taxi, during the school year she has to drive the kids back and forth from school, 12 miles per trip 3 trips a day plus other errands = about 50 miles a day / 18 MPG (soon to be 30MPG) *5 = 14 Gallons a week.

So between the company and person I use 80 a week. I chose the Toyota trucks due to the gas mileage.

When I drove I got 23MPG on average once I put hired help in the truck the gas mileage dropped to 17MPG just like the other truck. It pisses me off because I am not driving like an old lady by any stretch of the imagination yet, none of them can come close to me in mileage. Which leads me to believe they are pretty hard on the trucks. I had a little meeting with them and told them the mileage does not lie that, in addition to the poor mileage, came the addition wear and tear on the trucks. Which I expect to last 6-10 years. Its really frustrating sometimes.

I burned 3770 gallons yesterday.

That moved an apartment house weighing 65 tons from Los Angeles to New York City.

At 580 miles per hour.

my total fuel costs for 1 year are about $8000 a year

consider that my TOTAL income last year was less than $70000, this is alarming to me.
so i spend 11.42% of my GROSS wages on fuel.
my actual income less taxes is less than $50000
so in real money, i spend 16% of my money on fuel.
more than all insurance, principle paid on my mortgage combined.

and people say the economy is headed up...

I drive about 600 miles a week and use about 12-14 gallons of fuel. Yes, i drive a TDI :)

For those of you who use a lot of gas/dollars per week, are you inclined to do anything to change that? Different vehicle, mass transit, etc? I realize it isn't always practical to do so, not nagging anyone, I am just curious.

For us, we got sick of the Range Rover getting barely 10 mpg so when it was time for a new car, we went for the Prius. And now we don't even notice gas prices, I mean gas could go to $6/gal and the extra cost for us would be all of $35/month.

Next step will be to buy a scooter for my commute, so instead of the 911/Vanagon getting high-teens MPG (around town, cold engine), I can get >70 MPG and use 0.5 gal/wk even when I don't want to ride the bicycle.

YES!!! I wish Toyota or anyone would come out with a 4cyl Diesel Pickup.

Better yet!! A hybrid Diesel Pickup along the lines of a Prius or Honda Hybrid.

The best!! A fully electric pickup with a bed lined in batteries, I would sacrifice the bed space) with a range of 250+ miles between charges.

In 2 weeks I am picking up a cheap Honda (1995 or so) for my wifes daily driving duties and ditching my delivery service that is running me $700 a month. In exchange for my wife running deliveries from now on she gets to use the Honda for he daily duties as well.

So yes I am making changes, but to be honest, my choice of the 4 cyl Toyota trucks, in an industry where most use Ford F150's, I have already begun down the path of conservation, it was the best choice out there given the choices.

i am working on carpooling again...my wife works close enough and i will just adjust my hours

Instead of buying the new tundra with the 5.7 liter V8, I bought the tundra with the 4.7 liter V8 ;)

Later I found out that the larger engine is supposed to get 1 mpg better than the smaller engine. Oh well.

I figure gas is cheap and very convinient so I don't worry about an extra $120 a month or so. That is not enough for me to change my lifestyle.

Perhaps 3 gallons total for all vehicles, mostly premium.

Seems to me Izuzu used to make a 4 cyl diesel truck, I know VW did

About 15 gallons per week between me and the wife. I drive 25 miles each way she drives about 1.5 miles each way. If I drive the 911 add in a few gallons.

seems toyota isn't too concerned with mileage - saw a caravan of giganto tundra 5.7 v8's (15 in total) with decals with something similar to "Tundra Prove it"

One had a ATV in back one was pulling a trailer with 10,000 pounds of weight (or so the trailer said) and the others tagging along

Saw them at the beach a week ago and they where all just idling away so people looking would be in the comfort of a/c.............

all seemed excessive to me and they all had calif plates so they have treked across the country already

My 4.7 liter tundra is getting 16 mpg (I've heard the 5.7 liter tundras get 17 mpg).
Same as my last tundra, same as my chebby silverado, and better than any full sized ford truck ever made ;)

35 gallons per week. Probably 7 is work related. 3 drivers, 5 cars. We drive to much.

and how many people actually need to drive those monster trucks on a daily basis

my daily gets 50 mpg and is fun to drive and carries 4 people and a ton of junk in the trunk.

my 911 which gets 21 mpg gets taken out about 1 weekend a month now as I hate spending nearly $80 to feed her.
