Anyone make ratatouille?
When the first garden zucchinis come out, I can't wait to make my summer favorite.
My recipe is simple: zucchini, onion, mushrooms saute' ed in olive oil along with garlic. 6 to 10 minutes and then add some tomato puree, a little wine and a touch of sherry. Of course, I use some packaged Italian seasoning (mostly oregano). I simmer for an hour and serve over rice or pasta. I keep it simple and have no formal ratios. Been doing it for 40 years. It always has some surprises. Once, I used a can of diced tomatoes with chilies. I didn't see the chili part until it was too late. Not bad, but not everyone went for seconds on that batch.

The french ratatouille that my mother tought me how to make has five veggies: tomatoes, onion, eggplant, peppers and zucchini. Must be cooked in olive oil long enough until all the veggies litteraly melt.

Reminds me of summer as a kid, for a side - sliced tomatoes on mozzerella, with onions, oregano and olive oil drizzled on top.
For lunch, Cucumber sandwiches on Wonder Bread with plenty of mayo. (note to self - next year I will have a huge veggie garden!)

When I worked at the "Shadowbrook" restaurant in Capitola, Ca back in the 80's...Black olives were included.

I was dragged to it by my wife, expecting to be bored, but I actually enjoyed it. Some of the bits were quite funny.

Saw it yesterday as well - very enjoyable movie -- I was pleasantly entertained.
Couldn't make it to the drive in this weekend, so I settled for watching it in the regular movie theature in town. -Z-man.
