recommend a home office/photo printer

It's been a very long time since I've bought a printer. Wanted to see if anyone here familiar with them could recommend one.

Basically... I have a b/w laser which handles 90% of my need. But, I also need a color printer, that will handle normal home office usage (low volume docs in color, cd labels, etc) as well as print pictures - preferably in good enough quality to hang 13x19 prints in my office.

A built in print server would be nice, but not required. The printer will sit in close proximity to my hub/router.

I don't care about direct print from a camera, lcd screens, etc.

Anyone make a recommendation? Or, point me to a good site for reviews/comparisons?

Thanks,
Skip

I have a Canon Pixma photo printer, it does an excellent job. Not sure I'd want to use it for document printing though, it's not very fast, and ink doesn't last very long. I would suggest a dedicated photo printer if you want quality photos, and a color laser printer for documents.

You do not need a built in print server. Just get a cheap PCI printer card, stick it in the computer and hook both printers up to one computer. If you then network the system you can share the two printers with every computer on the system.

I have a HP 895I that can do photos but rarely make large photos. The ink cost is pretty high when you make them larger than 3x5".

I recently purchased a HP C5180 all in one printer. It is a copier/scanner and printer. It has 5 color cartridges and 1 black. The thing that made me choose this was the inexpensive ink cartridges. Best Buy sells all 6 cartridges prepackaged with a partial reem of paper for $36.00 total!! I have had the printer for about 2 months now and have printed black and white, color and photos and the results are fantastic. I have it setup wireless and my wife and I both use our laptops with the printer from anywhere within the house...............sweet. And the cost was $170.00.
