the only time you have too many cars is when you run out of room to keep them. I'm hovering around 17-18 vehicles right now, but the day isn't over yet. I need to sell a few to make room to get a few more

Heather and I have been using the Carrera as a daily driver, so we've been getting looks everywhere we go. Yesterday we rounded a corner and a guy waiting at the light was gapping at the car while we made the turn. I turned to Heather and found her grinning. I asked, "what?" She was amazed that some guy in an Acura which cost twice what my Carrera cost found my car so interesting. She then made the comment that he probably doesn't work on his own car and probably needed the more practical car.
That made me think of this thread. Our 911's can be used as a daily driver, and they cost less than a newer sports car. Most of us do work on our own cars....so the cost of ownership to fun ratio is very much in our favor. Someone posted a comment about "quality over quantity," and I just couldn't think if a car that had a better quality to cost ratio than a used 911. |
this is simple: women = never satisfied, men = once satisfied, attempts to establish routine to maintain state of.
the issue with the cars has to do with something else, something you are probably forgetting to do which to you is not a big something but which to her is a big something. whatever she is into, do more of it and notice the decrease in the complaints. But remember the rule above... you can't totally make a woman happy, only she can choose to accept her situation and be happy with it... good luck |
One cannot have TO MANY CARS!!!!!!!
I am down to 6 and feel naked! I am pushing for a his and hers Porsche Carrera GT And I will admit I will give up the 65 912, the 05 caddy, the 06 mini, but NOTHING else, well maybe the 87 325ic, but absolutely nothing else, never the race car, never, never, the wife first, but never the race car. I have only had the wife since 69, the race car is a 66. |
I only have 3. My 2 are paid off the day I got them. The third is a leased family SUV because my wife wants the latest and safest and I do not disagree with her.

Sounds to me not like you have too many cars, but one too many wives. The solution is easy, and she should be made aware of the fact.

Here's an interesting comparison between an F150 and a Mini Cooper

Yawn, yawn. Same old typical "throwup" articles on SUV's. Any "soccer mom" or whatever not paying attention driving anything is a danger.
OUr XC90 is designed to inflict as minimal damage as possible to a car when in a collision, but all the engineering in the world can't over the simple physics of it all. Bottom line, if you don't like SUV's thats cool, don't buy one. |
When we moved into the city, we dropped down to one car for transportation, and one for play (the 911 in an off-site garage). We don't commute by car, so the transportation is for errands like the groceries, or trips every once in a while. My wife's been whinging about getting "her own" car lately, so I think in the near future we're going to start car hunting. Our condo only come comes with one space in the underground garage. but it's a wide enough space for us to squeeze two cars. That is, if the second car is real small. I gave her the choice between a Miata or a Mini, or something larger if she's willing to park it on the street. The Mini looks like it's going to be her choice. Now, I need to figure out how to convince her she "needs" a John Cooper Works Cooper S. Muhahahaha! :D
|
I bought my 16 year old daughter the mini S cooper. The John Cooper Works is something every wife should have. 911 turbo performance with the look of a, well, mini. Easy to park, a real joy to drive.

I'm going to have to work on this. Wish me luck. :D

Theres an awful lot of SUV/truck hatred on this board. I dont get it, Did all the haters have thier girls stolen by guys driving SUVs or trucks?? (Except for us "homo" Dodge Ram owners) I'm sure the general public looks down on the "yuppie euro car" driver, more than the soccer mom suv driver. As far as safety, in my 17 yrs as a firefighter cutting people out of vehicles. The worst injuries and fatalities come first, from vans(mini and fullsize), second from small to mid size foriegn vehicles. The least serious are full size trucks |
