I'm fed up with people who block gas pumps when they pull into a gas station to buy lotto tickets

scottmandue 07-14-2007 12:53 PM

All of the above plus...

Speaking of lotto tickets... people who stand at the checkout counter and do their "scratchers" holding up other people in line  hey dumba$$ you don't see me cracking open a beer at the cash register and making everyone wait... go feed you addiction someplace else.

Lack of respect and common courtesy, I have Mondays off and like to walk on the beach and it pisses me off to see beer bottles, fast food wrappings, littered all over the beach when garbage cans are a few feet away... I saw a disposable diaper in a tide pool last Monday!

Some of the more hard core on this forum would simply say, "Well, if you don't like it in the ole' US of A, go live somewhere else."

Of course that's not the point of identifying things that need to be fixed in this country. So, what's the solution? We are. If you want change, go for it. Everyone knows talk is cheap.

To implement change, meet with other like-minded people, then organize, devise a sound strategy and implement it with some effective tactics. Nothing's going to change if you're sitting in a Barcalounger with a stack of Porsche catalogs and magazines. Even Andy Rooney's eyebrows aren't exempt.

Is everyone aware this can't be done in many countries?

I live by the beach too Scottmandue, not too far from you up in South
Bay..... Things have changed in the 5 years that I have lived here...
It used to be a more local, fun crowd down there on the Strand on
weekends....but now, it has become overrun by people from outside
the area... Those types are responsible for trashing the beach on the weekends.

"Rudeness. Whether it is in public, private or on the road.
The cellphone has created a level of rudness that is disgusting.
people have gotten to the point where they just dont give a crap about anyone around them."

Its Funny, Vinman... just yesterday I was thinking this about a guy
who was sitting in the veternarians office next to me jabbering in to
his cell phone. The whole waiting room could hear him + the person
on the phone that he was talking to because his volume was turned
up so loud. It struck me as being sort of rude and he should have
just taken the call outside.

but I cant complain too much.... I have my life and health...
taxes really annoy me though... :)

I'm fed up with illegal immigration and the POS politicians who won't do anything about it.
Watching MCain's campaign go down in flames after he supported the amnesty bill is enjoyable though.

Just so.

How about all the intolerance that is even indicated in some of the posts here?

We are all human and all of us do things that pi$$ off others at some time or another.

Take a look at those numbers.
They are just plan scary.
and does not take in account the death toll.

And the "typical American" does not seem to give a damn...
no, he/she is wrapped up in their escapism...escaping
from the problems of the world and the country as well
as the problems and issues in their own lives....
no one seems to care enough to stimulate change...

On the McCain thing - I don't disagree with you, but it makes me think. Are you one of these people that have said (either in the past or now), "One of the reasons I respect Bush is that he's got enough conviction to do what he thinks is right, regardless of public opinion"?

Not singling you out, just food for thought. Where is it right for one person to ignore public opinion (called "conviction") and not right for another (called "stubbornness" or perhaps "blindness")?

Food for thought.

Speaking of overall rudeness and cell phones as a catalyst, while I'm not totally opposed to infants and children in restaurants, there is a time and place for that regardless of the behavior of the children. Of course, many times the children are out of control ruining the experience for all patrons. That clearly is the epitome of selfishness on the parents part, not to mention poor upbringing.

Add that to my list.

I do not think Bush is a good president. I do not "like" him. On the day we invaded Iraq I was saying that it was going to be another vietnam. I said it was a huge mistake that will take years to get out of. I also noticed that plenty of democrats voted for the war, but as soon as the polls turned they pretended like they were always against it. Freaking hypocritical cowards.

The polls indicate one thing: what the opinion is of a small group of UNINFORMED people think. Most of them would not be able to point to Iraq on a map. They don't know anything about the details except what they heard someone say or what they saw on a sensationalistic biased report on the boob tube. Do you think they are capable of running a country? No, they are not. The average IQ is what, around 100? The average for people who vote democrat is lower than that.
Not because liberals are not capable of being smart, but because those individuals in this country with diminished capacity tend to vote democrat if they vote at all. Usually because they have their hands out and the democrats like to promise free stuff to people like that (even if they are only promises). Pandering is a good term for it I think. No, I don't think polls should determine foreign policy. That's why by design we have a representative form of government and not a true democracy.

I do not support Bush's position on the war or on illegal immigration. At all. But I do belive in reality. I believe that if we pulled out of Iraq now it would be worse than if we never went there. We would live (or die) to regret it if we pulled out now.

I support Bush for two reasons:
1) he is our president and deserves some respect, even if it is for the position and not the man.
2) he is a conservative republican and it is my duty on this earth to try and prevent the bleeding heart unrealistic left wingers from taking over and screwing things up at a faster rate than they already are. As bad as he is he is still a lot better than Al Gore would have been.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned that really gets under my skin is at the fuel pumps. I'm part of the small crowd that drives a diesel passenger car to and from work (45-50mpg) or to and from school during the semester and what i hate is when someone uses the only one or two pumps at a station to fill up there gasser, not because the station is full, but when other pumps are free but they choose the only one or two that happened to also pump diesel. My only choice is to pump at that pump or the one next to it, they drive a gasser and can pump anywhere, but of the whole station they choose to use the one that also pumps diesel. I mean come on, a little courtesy.

Sam, who was that guy that used to turn EVERY thread into a political rant? :)

stevepaa 07-15-2007 03:38 PM

Poeple who think there is only one answer and he knows what it is.

Cell phones in use everywhere. You want to use that phone, move away from others.

No true leaders in this country.

Not having health care plans available for everyone. Private enterprise has failed us here.

The zillion dollar golden parachutes for inept CEOs.

Hugh R 07-15-2007 05:23 PM

Everyone who takes more out of the system than they pay into it. If you think about it, that includes most middle income earners and those below them. The average person doesn't pay enough taxes to put their own kids through school, let alone their share of police, fire, roads, flood control, national defense and everthing else.

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and their ilk, and all the illegals.

AND regarding New Orleans and all those other people living in the Gulf who are in trailers, they shouldn't be expecting anything from the Feds, let alone a trailer in the first place. I have fire and earthquake insurance. When the Northridge earthquake did about $50K in damage to my house, it never occurred to me to demand that the gubmit rebuild my house.

DanielDudley 07-15-2007 07:04 PM

I thought the Andy Roony rant was funny. I mean I can just here Andy reading it himself. And that's another thing ...

Personally, I am sick of all this BS all or nothing thinking coming from the Polar Right vs Left.
Dominant opinionated morons who cant find a way to meet in the middle have no place in a modern society. The truth is never black or white, and it is always somewhere in the middle.

I am also amazed that as a society we can no longer make moral distinctions that would have taken people a generation ago about five seconds to figure out. Preemptive strikes ? Excuse me, why don't you just put me in jail for that murder I haven't commited?

That would of course be one way to shut me up ...
