Got the Volvo Back together --> another problem!

Well, I got everything back together. The car is now *technically* driveable... I took it for a couple spins around the block, no leaks...

The only problem is, the car no longer wants to shift. It (automatic tranny) just stays in first and keeps on revving when it would normally upshift.

Please don't tell me that my transmission is toast.

I am hoping for a quick fix, but I guess if the tranny is gone it isn't the end of the world - you can get replacements on eBay for around $90!

I told ya the tranny was toast when you first posted the problem.

You should take the tranny out and put it on eBay. You'll probably get around $90 for it!

Let me say this first: I have never been under the hood of a Volvo.

But it sure sounds like the Vacuum line is off the modulator valve if it has one.

But seeing as it's a 1990, I'm guessing it doesn't.

Yes, it the fluid is refilled.

I have posted on a couple Volvo boards as well; I will see what they say about it and get back to you.

Thanks for the pic, matt. Brightened my night a little.

Another suggestion I got on the Volvo board was that the kickdown cable might have become disturbed somehow.

The Volvo board members seem to be sure that the problem is with either the shift linkage or the kickdown cable. I did have to unhook the shift linkage in order to pull the housing off, so that is a possibility, but I made sure to make note of exactly how the linkage was placed when I unhooked it, and hooked it back up exactly the way it was (I am pretty sure)...

I have no idea where the kickdown cable is. I didn't unhook a cable during this procedure, but I suppose it might have come loose, I dunno.
