Sounds like Wayne is onto something, but I agree that this "smells" more like a corrupted db, etc. than a MySQL architecture issue, based upon my own "end user" experiences. Any issues with MySQL (assuming it hasn't been upgraded/modied lately) would have been there since the git-go, and this performance degradation happened almost "over night" a few weeks back. I know we're probably not helping you Wayne, but it gives us something to chat about instead of politics !

Ya know, I was going to say this seemed to happen really fast. not a gradual thing at all.

IIRC it started a little over 4 weeks ago. at least for me.

I agree, this forum has come to a crawl, it was like someone left the e-brake on.

As of a few weeks ago it got real slow.

Wayne,
The SQLServer licenses $$$ is not too bad, what's going to be expensive is the internet access. Everytime a database serves out the internet it requires some special licensing from Oracle or Microsoft, their argument is that you can't control how many users will benefit from using the database server (and going with a single application connection argument doesn't fly)
If your database is less than 2GB of space you qualify for the MSDE Edition or Oracle Express Ed. These versions are fully featured they're only restricted to the size and number of CPU.
(please check the fine print and details for each one)

I'm a DBA so I offer you my help, let me know..

Bye
Jasper

Anyone else think this started just after the thread telling people how to make their browsers faster by opening multiple connections?

I did point that out a few days ago (it might have been on another thread). It may or may not be critical, but it's a good suggestion as many times poor performance is a combination of factors.
