American Liberals seem to think that reason will prevail and that you can negioate with everybody. Everybody has their price, satisfy that and you satisfy them. This belief is so far from the truth when it comes to dealing with Islam as to be laughable.

If Pakistan become a Radical Muslim Theocracy the liklihood of a Nuclear event goes right through the roof. The US would likily iniatiate action to preempt there use on the West, which would likily be the flash point for a war from Egypt to China.

Maintaining Nuke Missles COSTS MONEY and the Soviets have been somewhat short in that department.

However Pakistan, India and China can all do damage to each other. Reaching the US with any kind of effectiviness is still outside most countries capabilities.

Pakistan is very worrisome in that a bomb can be put aboard a Cargo Container and shipped anywhere in the world and detonated. With Radical Islamists the moral inhibitions are lost.

Luckily China doesn't send very many cargo containers over to the US, so we're safe on that front.

The Chinese are on a whole different plane of existence when it comes down to excercising political power. They believe in "peacefull cooperation" and declare that the aquistion of territory is sooo old fashion as it is unsustainable. So you might say they believe in pulling the strings of influence from behind the scenes rather than an outright confrontation, they also take the long view in achieving their goals. After all what is 100 years or more to the Chinese, who have been at this for thousands of years.
