They are very real looking BUT once you have your weathering technique down its actually easier to do as opposed to a perfectly detailed model – IMO. Dust - Airbrush. Mud - airbrush and artist chalks. Rust - painted on. Paint chipping - painted on. Its easier to cover up mistakes with weathering than it is 'say' a fingerprint on a paintjob.
